Trader His responsibilities include undertaking transactions in equities, bonds, currencies options or futures with traders at commercial banks, investment banks and large institutional investors. The job requires a strong and detailed knowledge of financial markets and instruments as well as an ability to sense the overall economical and environmental events and predict future trends. Very good ethical and communication skills are demanded and the ability to handle stress is highly required. Salesperson An institutional salesperson is responsible for transferring information about particular securities to institutional investors. The job involves heavy contacts with portfolio managers and the firm's analysts and traders. Sales skills and product knowledge are the major requirements for the position, as well as the ability to get through to busy institutional investors. Usually, salespersons work very closely with traders. Research Security analysts usually assigned to an industry or region, make buy or sell recommendations to investors about a stock or bond. Typical research duties include visiting companies and contacting institutional investors. The job requires good knowledge of the industry and good communication skills. Research analysts are often classified as either quants or fundamentalists. Fundamentalists make recommendations based on facts related to a specific company like its earnings or sales whereas quants identify under valuated securities, markets or even whole countries.
