| This XR2 appeared for sale on Ebay in February 2004. At the time I couldn't verify the registration plate. It was described as a T-bar conversion and was apparently commisioned by Ford, along with five others. The car was only MOT'd until Feb 04 and would need some TLC before another was issued. |

| In September 2005 I was at a car show in Norwich with my Mk2 convertible C457 XDU where I met a gentleman called Richard. He said he'd just bought a Mk1 XR2 with a T-bar convertible conversion, and that it had an opening boot like mine. To the best of my knowledge Rugby Autocar who built my car never built an mk1's so I was rather confused. | ||||||||||||||||||||
| Having now received these pics from Richard its certainly not a Rugby Autocar or Fly conversion. Richard reckons these were commissioned by Ford for a promotion, we know not what. This makes me wonder if there might be some truth in the theory put forward by a previous owner of FCM 444Y who remembered talking to a lady who'd won a Fiesta XR2 convertible in a competition run by a major food company (possibly Heinz). We might never know |
