| ..early days. The car was built in September 1985 and registered in December that year , it would have come from the factory as a standard hatchback and then converted.. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Another car on this site, D260 GAC was built by Rugby Autocar and has the same conversion as this car. Only 3 are reputed to have been built.I hope to get some solid info about the car but it's still..... | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| ..to a soft top by Rugby Autocar. The car uses original doors and B post (where the seatbelt mounts) and has a a rollover bar connecting the B posts. The bar then has a T-bar connecting to the top of the windscreen above the interior mirror. Two large steel beams connect along the inner sills between the front and rear wheel arches. Unlike the Fly conversion this car has a bootlid that can open. The Fly boot is welded and riveted shut to improve structural rigidity, but the Fly doesn't have a rollover bar to improve strength. The car has rear side windows made of perspex with a similar shape to the original glass units. These are permenantly fixed to the car, which makes it impossible to achieve the completely open sided view of the Fly. |
