The air was thick with the stench of death and decay. If it hadn't been for winter, their would have been swarms of flies.

"mmmmmmmmmmmm yummy."

Heather froze, the voice was right behind her. Low, raspy, it chilled her blood. Something touched her hair. Heather jerked forward, instantly regretting it as fresh waves of pain surged threw her body. The voice laughed.

"Wakey, Wakey, little flower." It chuckled. It moved around the tree, infront of her.

Heather screamed.

It laughed.

"AHhhh, music to my ears." It smiled. Heather gasped for air, her arms screaming in agony as she tried to pull back from it.

To call it a nightmare would be too light a term. It was a like looking at a horrid jigsaw puzzle. None of it's parts seemed to belong. One arm was pale white, the other dark tan. It's face was twisted, it's nose turned at an angle, it's mouth a cruel slash across a patchwork face. Half it's head was covered with short red hair, the other long blonde. Hundreds of scars cover it's skin.

Blood. It was covered in blood. The torn shirt and ratty pants were soaked in it. Blood dripped from it's hands and stained it's lips. Dyed blood clung to it's hair and arms. It pooled on the ground where the thing stood.

It moved towards her, grinning it's horrible lopsided grin. Moved close, until it's face a few inches from her's. It's foul breath wafted over her. It stank of decay, of rotting meat, of stale blood, of death. Heather gagged, feeling her small lunch trying hard to come up.

"Little flower, mmmmmmmmmm." It smiled at her, trailing one bloody finger along the side of her face. Heather flinched, it laughed again. "Frightening, aren't I?" It grinned, it's voice low and harsh. "A horror to behold?" It grabbed a handful of Heather's hair and forced her head up and down, nodding yes.

"GOOD, good, wouldn't want that old b*tch's work to have been wasted, now would we, hmmmmmm?" It leaned closer and sniffed her neck. "mmmmmmmmm your a tender morsel, mmmmm yes." Heather closed her eyes as it moved it's face up near her's. The stench was making it hard for her to breath. "Sooooooooo tempting, sooooo tasty, but NO, no, we'll wait. Yes, we'll wait."

It moved away, stepping around behind her, where she couldn't see it. She felt it caress her hair. She cried out as it grabbed the side of her neck, it's other arm siding around her waist. It pulled her hard against it, breathing in her ear. "Ahhhh to wait, it makes it soooooo much better." It chuckled in her ear. It stepped back and began laughing hysterically.

Heather hung there, gasping for air, with no strength to scream. With no strength to even cry.

"Brother, you have to stop beating yourself up about this," said Kai21. Kai13 paced back and forth outside revo's office. Kai21, Kai10 and DiscoKai stood back and watched.  "You don't understand." growled Kai13.

"Yes, we do." said DiscoKai as Kai13 walked past them again.

"NO, you don't," Kai13 stopped infront of his brothers, "I should have gotten there sooner, I should have found her before.... before..." He smashed his fist into the stone wall. Kai10 stepped forward, laying a hand on Kai13's shoulder. "There was nothing you could have done to find her any faster. That.... "thing" did everything it could do to cover it's tracks."

"Yes, but...." Kai13 said softly, leaning his head against the wall, shoulders slumped.

"NO Buts," said DiscoKai. "You did everything posable, *EVERYTHING*, to find her and you did. You found her."

"Yes, but...." Kai13 closed his eyes and slumped onto a nearby bench. Kai21 sat down next to him and put an arm around his shoulders.

"Don't worry, she's be ok," he said, hoping for his brother's sake that he was right.

"Are you ready to continue?" asked Revo softly.

Heather nodded, took a deep breath and started again. "I must have passed out again. The next thing I remembered, it was night. The screams woke me up." Heather closed her eyes a moment.

"It was hungry."

Heather tried to block them out, but the screams shook the air around her. They wrapped around her body, vibrated threw her bones. She didn't know what it was doing to that troll. She did want to know.

She kept her eyes closed long after the screams had stopped. Without the screams, she could hear what it was doing, bones snapping, blood spattering on the ground, flesh being ripped from limbs. It made grunting, slurping sounds as it ate, pausing for a moment to mumble something under it's breath before resuming.
