| Some time later, it stopped eating, she could hear it moving towards her. She kept her eyes closed, afraid of what she might see. The stench wafted over her, it was right in front of her. Suddenly it grabbed her throat. Her eyes snapped open. It's face was only a few inches from her's. It's face was covered with blood and it was smiling. "what.... are... you?" Heather choked out. It smiled even wider and let go of her throat. "Ahhhhhhh, the flower has a voice." It stepped back, "and such a good question, too." It looked thoughtful a moment. "I am every one. I was made from *spare parts*. An arm from this corpse, a leg from that one, a little human, a little troll. The one that made me worked for the Martha, on several different projects. I was her *pet project*." It began pacing back and forth in front of her, "The old bat was fascinated with a certain novel," It grinned, "Guess which one." It stopped pacing and leaned close to her, "She wanted to make her own monster. She made me. She thought she could control me, until I ate her assistant for breakfast, and then her for lunch," it started giggling maniacally, "Then, I came here, mmmmmmm such a yummy forest, full of yummy animals to eat." It licked it's lips and leaned closer to her. "I wondered what those in the castle tasted like, the women. I imagine the clones taste like the few anti-kais I caught. They don't taste very good. But the women, mmmmmm, I wanted very badly to know." Heather gasped as it grabbed a hand full of her hair, twisting around it's hand. It wrenched her head to the side, grinning at her pain. "And now, I have you." ~~~~~ "Ummm, Kai13, I think your chokeing her." Startled out of his thoughts, Kai13 looked down at Baby, who was franticly trying to wiggle out of his too tight grip. Looking rather sheepish, Kai13 let Baby go and looked up at dgre. Dgre scooped Baby up, and sat next to Kai13. "How about I watch Baby for a few hours?" asked dgre gently. Kai13 simply nodded. Dgre was shocked at Kai13's demenor. There was no hint of the happy, smiling, often hot-tempered clone that he was. It was as if the "life" had been drained from him. She followed his unblinking gaze towards the door to revo's office. She knew, while his body was out here, his heart and mind were in that room with Heather. Dgre knew that Kai13 wouldn't be the same untill Heather got better. She hoped it would be soon. ~~~~~ The sun had risen. Heather could bearly keep her eyes open any longer. She had learned to ignore the pain, but couldn't ignore the exaustion creeping up on her. She hung limp from the trees, head down, trying hard not to fall asleep. The thing had left sometime during the night. It hadn't yet returned, she was glad. The londer it was away the better. She drifted in and out of sleep for several hours. "I'm hungry." Heather jerked awake. It was right behind her, it's foul breath drifting along her neck. She tryed to move, but her tired muscles refused to budge. The thing chuckled as it walked around infront of her. "yummy, yummy flower." It grabed a handfull of her hair and lifted her head up. It looked into her fearful eyes and smiled. "I..... am going to so enjoy this. I .... am going to savor this." Heather suddenly noticed a long curved knife hanging from a crude belt around it's waist. It smiled as it pulled the blade free, "I cleaned it........... just for you." Heather jerked agenst the ropes, but it was no use, exaustion had robbed her of her strength. It let go of her hair, grabing her right arm above the elbow. The sunlight glinted off the cold metal as it raised the blade into the air. She watched the blade slash downward. Heather's scream and that of a brace shattered the air. The creature roared as the bloody blade and it's own hand fell to the ground. It clutched the stump to it's chest. Heather slumped towards the ground, held up by the rope around her left wrist. She barely felt someone wrap their arms around her chest, the rope being cut from her wrist, or being lowered to the ground. The next thing she knew, someone was leaning over her. She blinked trying to clear her vision. Suddenly a familiar face came into view. "Ka.." she choked. Kai13 leaned over her, he was saying something she could barely hear. Suddenly, someone turned the volume back up. "HEATHER, Stay awake." "It went that way." "I can't stop the bleeding." "What was that thing?" "We have to get her back to the castle NOW!" "Keep the pressure on it." Heather could see people moving around. Lafem was next to her doing something to her right arm. Logan was handing things to Lafem. Heather wondered why her arm didn't hurt anymore. WOWKai and CheyKai were standing nearby, they keep looking around. CowboyKai appeared, SamuriaKai and Kai21 right behind him. "It's gone, the tracks just stopped," said CowboyKai. |
