| Kai13 paced outside revo's office. He tried sitting but found himself back on his feet, to nervous to stay put. VisionAri walked up beside him. "Is she in there?" "Yeah," Kai13 tried to stand still but couldn't. VisionAri laid a hand on his shoulder. "It's gonna be ok. She's gonna work threw this and she'll be back to normal before you know it." "I hope so," said Kai13, his face etched with worry. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ "Are you ready to continue?" said revo gently. "Yes," Heather said, taking several deep breaths. "After I saw that... thing, I hollered down to Lily... ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ "Lily, get back to Jade NOW." Heather spun around and scrambled down the boulders. "But.." "NOW, move it." Heather jumped the last few feet to the ground and pushed Lily towards Jade. They ran, weaving threw the boulders. Something grabbed Heather's ankle, she screamed as she fell forward. Turning over she saw an old bear trap clamped around her ankle. Lily ran back to her. Together they tried to pry it open. "Lily, it's no use." Heather gasped in pain. "It won't open." She leaned back and looked around. "OH Sh*t" To the left and right of her, beside nearby boulders sat two more traps. Some distance away she could make out several more. "Lily, this whole place is a trap." "Your right," Lily looked around, "They're everywhere. What are we gonna do?" Lily's face crumbled and tears poured down her face. Heather pulled Lily to her. "shhhh, it's ok." Heather hugged Lily, "I need you to go back to the castle." "NO." "Yes, Lily, you have to go back, get help." Lily reluctantly nodded and ran to Jade. She climbed onto Jade's back and soon disappeared back down the trail. Heather leaned against a nearby boulder. She soon realized it didn't matter which way she turned her leg, it still hurt. She wondered how long she would have to wait. A twig snapped behind her. She turned around..... and everything went dark. ***** Heather and Kai13 sat outside revo's office. The door opened and revo stepped out. Together, they stood and walked over. Heather, moving stiffly, went inside. Kai13 held up his hand, forestalling revo from following. "Yes," said revo. "I.. I just wanted to thank you, for spending so much time with Heather. You've given up a lot of time for her and..." Kai13 paused trying to find the words. Revo smiled. "It's ok. Heather needs a lot of help right now and I'm glad to do this," revo pated Kai13 on his shoulder, smiled and walked back into her office. Kai13 looked at the closed door, sighed, and walked over to the bench. He sat down and waited. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Heather was jarred awake. She opened her eyes slightly, her head felt like it had been split open. She remained conscious long enough to realize she was being dragged along the ground. Then she slipped back into blissful darkness. When she woke again, all she was conscious of was pain, blinding, searing pain. Her arms, her back, her legs, her head, everything hurt. She dare not more or open her eyes for fear of making it worse. Could it get worse? After what seemed like hours, she slowly, cautiously opened her eyes. She was standing up, no, she was hanging, her feet a few inches off the ground. That's why her arms hurt so much, supporting all her weight. The bear trap had been pried off her leg. She lifted her head slowly. She was hanging between two small trees, just as the anti-Kai had been. She focused her eyes on what was beyond her....and choked on her scream. Heather wondered if she had been dragged into hell. The trees she was tied to stood in the center of a small clearing. There was bodies, several of them, hanging in the trees. There were several trolls, or what was left of them. Others were bearly desrenable as human. There was a troll hanging almost directly in front of her. It had been disemboweled, it's chest ripped open, ribs picked clean of their meat. It's head was sitting on the ground between it's legs. Another troll hung beside it, still alive, but frightened out of it's pea sized mind. It thrashed about, the ropes cutting into it's wrists, squealing in terror. |
