| VisionAri stalked the halls of the ruins, her sword, TrollCleaver, clenched in her hand. Plump Mouse sat, clinging to her shoulder. They entered what had at one time been the main hall of the ruins. The walls were covered with more of those strange vines. The center of the room was dominated by a large round, green bulb, from which all of those horrid vines grew. The top of the bulb opened with a sickening wet sound. "It figures, I sit down to dinner and uninvited guests show up," out of the opening Crabgrass stood up. VA picked Plump Mouse off her shoulder and sat her on the ground. She growled as she stalked towards Crabgrass. "What's the matter, VisionAri, that is your name right? I thought you'd be happy I let you live," leered Crabgrass. Crabgrass flicked her finger, a vine slammed into VA's back knocking her to the ground. VA rolled away as the vine stabbed the ground, a few inches away from being impaled by it. She swung TrollCleaver, cutting threw the vine. It quickly withdrew and another lashed out at VA. She stood up slashing the vine in half. Now more came at her, cutting her with razor sharp tips, some slamming into her like clubs, others grabbing at her arms and legs. Crabgrass chuckled, "I like this new game, Pin the vine on the Fairy." VA slashed a vine trying to run her threw. She spun around and slashed the bulb Crabgrass was standing in. Foul smelling liquid poured from the gash, the vines froze for a moment before falling to the ground, writhing in agony. Crabgrass screamed, "NO!" as VA swung at her. She threw up her arm, trying desperately to get away. The blade sliced cleanly threw Crabgrass's forearm. Crabgrass clutched the bloody stump to her chest as she jumped from the dying bulb. VA chased after her, running around the convulsing bulb. "Come back and fight like a man, you b*tch." screamed VA as she chased Crabgrass down a hallway. Suddenly something slammed into her stomach. VA looked up to see a dying vine, writhing above her. VA rolled away and stood up. Crabgrass was gone. VA cursed under her breath. ***** "OUCH!" hollered VA. "Oh hush, I'm doing the best I can," said Dgre as she cleaned the cut above VA's eye. VA sat in the main hall of the APEC fortress. She silently cursed having lost Crabgrass. EveningStar appeared beside her. VA jumped to her feet. "Is she all right?" gasped VA. ES smiled, "Come see for yourself." VA followed ES upstairs. VA stepped into the room. Heather lay on her bed her head resting on Kai13's lap. ES whispered softly, "She lost a lot of sap, but she's stable now." VA nodded and approached the bed. Heather opened her eyes and smiled slightly, "VA," she said bearly above a whisper. VA sat down on the edge of the bed, holding Heather's hand. "Thank you." Heather said softly. "Your welcome," said VA, "rest now." VA want to stand but Heather tightened her hold on VA's hand. VA stopped. She saw fear in Heather's eyes. "She'll be back, I know she will," said Heather. "I know, and we'll be waiting for her," said VA. Heather smiled and closed her eyes. She was soon asleep and VA quietly left the room. Outside she stopped ES. "Your sure?" asked VA. "Yes, we scoured the ruins, there's no sign of Crabgrass. She could be anywhere," said ES. "Then we better get ready,"said VA, "she'll be back, sooner of later." |
| Heather walked along the fortress walls. The sun cast it's early morning light across the forest. Birds sang, squearls chitered in the trees. Today was a beautiful day. It was hard to believe just a few days ago, she had almost died. Heather looked out across the meadow that lead up to the main gates. In the middle of the meadow was a small lake and in that lake was Jade fighting agenst the cobined forces of the APEC Kai clones. They were "trying" to give her a bath. Heather giggled. Kai10 had a hold on Jade's head while Kai14 tryed to wash her neck. Kai16, 17, and 18 were arguing about who was doing a better job. Kai21 was hanging onto Jade's tail. MyKai stood on the shore giving out directions, not even wet. Every few minutes Jade would thrash about trying to shake off the clones, then, when that didn't work, she would howl in protest. Heather smiled, "You know, you really should be out there helping." "I know." said Kai 13 as he sliped he's arms around Heather's waist, "But your my main consern. You shouldn't be out of bed yet." Heather giggled, "If you had your way I'd never leave the bed." Kai 13 smiled slightly, "You know what I mean, your still very weak." "And I'm gonna stay weak unless I get up and move around," Heather turned around in his arms, now very serious, "She'll be back, next week, next month, maybe tommarow, and I have to be ready." Heather layed her head on his shoulder. Kai 13 ran his fingers threw her hair, "I know." he said softly. |
