| "Where have you been? Don't just stand there, speak up?" hollered ES. Misty, Schwartz Katz, Naughty Kitty, Wild Wolf, Kitchen Possum, and Small Fury Animal stood there, heads down. "We went for a picnic," said Misty softly. "A PICNIC??? VA and Ging were attacked, Heather's missing, the forest is dying and you went for a picnic?" ES's voice cracked. Just then Zebeep saw something flying towards the fortress. Before he could move it ran right into him. "Ooof" He looked down at the thing clinging to his shirt, "Ding Bat!!!" ***** Ding Bat lay on a small pillow on the massive table, gasping for air, her little body shaking. "Ding, what happened?" asked EveningStar, leaning over Ding. Misty jumped up on the table. "Ding, where have you been?? We looked all over for you," said Misty. Ding Bat gasped out, "Ruins..*gasp*.. Heather..there.. *pant*.. hurry!" EveningStar stood up, "You heard Ding, let's go." Everyone started running and talking at once. EveningStar called PerfectBlue, Max and Tressia over, "You three head out now, the rest of us will be along in a few minutes." They nodded and ran outside, into the darkness. "I'm going too," said VisionAri. "OH no you don't," said ES, "Your in no condition to go. Please VA, let us handle this." VisionAri hung her head and sighed, "OK." EveningStar turned away to talk to PhantomsPaw. VisionAri looked up. Seeing ES busy, she ducked out the door and took to the sky. "I'm gonna get that little SOB," hissed VA as she flew towards the ruins. Tressia and Maaxx ran towards the ruins. PerfectBlue had left them behind, being much faster. They didn't notice VisionAri high above the trees, speeding towards the ruins. ***** Heather's head drooped again. Plump Mouse was getting worried. Heather was more hurt then she realized. "HEATHER, stay awake!!" Plump Mouse shouted in Heather's ear. Heather's head snapped up. "I'm trying." Heather mumbled. "Please Heather, try harder, they'll be here soon, I know it," sniffled Plump Mouse. ***** PerfectBlue skidded to a stop. He looked into the dark entryway. Blue spun around, something thumping against the ground behind him. VisionAri stood there, rage shining in her eyes. "What are you waiting for, come on," said VA as she charged past Blue, into the dark ruins. ***** Plump Mouse perked up. She ran down from her perch on Heather's shoulder. She ran out into the hallway. There she saw VA and Blue running towards her. Plump Mouse sat up on her hind legs, waving her paws in the air. "In here," she shouted. VA and Blue ran past her into the room. "Heather?" gasped VA, lifting Heather's head. Heather opened her eyes, bearly. "Vis.." said Heather before her eyes closed again. VisionAri felt something warm and sticky on her fingers. She moved the hand she had put on the back of Heather's head, it was covered with the red tinted sap that was Heather's blood. VA turned to Blue, "Cut her down, now." VA stepped back as Blue neatly sliced threw the vines holding Heather's legs, then those around her arms. VA stepped forward, catching Heather as her legs gave way. Blue looked at the tangle of vines behind Heather. "I can't tell which are hers and which arn't." said Blue looking at the mass of twisted vines. "Cut them." VA choked out. "But.." said Blue. "Da*n it Blue, she's unconscious, she's gonna die if we don't get her out of here NOW," ground out VA, her eyes watering. Blue closed his eyes a moment, raised his sword, and whispered, "I'm sorry." He opened his eyes and neatly sliced threw the mass of vines. The pieces made slapping sounds as they hit the floor. Red sap poured from Heather's severed vines, running down her legs, pooling on the floor. "Blue, take her, get her back to the fortress fast," said VA. "But what about..." started Blue. "GO, before she bleeds to death," shouted VA. Blue scooped up Heather's limp body and ran threw the doorway. Blue ran as fast as he could, past Tressia and Maaxx, past the rest of the APEC forces. "Hang on Heather," thought Blue as he ran threw the open gates of the APEC fortress. VisionAri scooped up Plump Mouse. "Tell me who did this and where they are?" Plump Mouse told VA what Heather had told her as VisionAri stalked down the hallway, looking for Fields of Crabgrass. |
