| "Don't let them hurt me, Kai!" sobbed Heather. Kai13 sighed. "I'd never let somone hurt you." With that he followed Heather out the door. They ran quietly down the hallway. Heather, leading the way, grinned threw the fake tears. "This is almost too easy." thought the Blight. Heather and Kai13 ran into the room where Heather had left VA. "Kai, pick up VA and follow me." said Heather. "But.." started Kai13. "NOW." hissed Heather. Kai13 cringed. Seeing this Heather stepped close, laying a hand on his face, "It's ok, trust me." she said softly. Kai13 sighed and scooped VA up. He didn't know what to do. Heather was acting strange, her voice had changed, raspy. Then there was that blotch across the side of her face. Kai13 followed Heather. He came to an unsettling conclusion. He had to obey and protect her, this was something all Kai clones had to do for their mistresses. And to protect her he had to obey her, even if she was acting strangely. Heather stoped in a small room, the wall and roof and fallen away. Because of this, the room got a large amount of morning sunlight. Heather picked up a small pot from where it sat on a pile of fallen stones. The plant growing out of it was shaped like a bulb, about the size of a basketball, with small long vines trailing along the ground. Heather turned around, "Now we can leave." They silently found their way out of the ruins. Circling around to the front, Heather paused to pick her sword, EarthFire, up from where it had fallen. Near the main entrence she turned to Kai13. She handed him the plant she had been carrying. "Take VA and this back to the fortress." said Heather. She layed a finger on his lips as he made to speak, "Don't worry, I'll be right behind you." Kai13 frowned, "Yes Mistress." he said unhappily. He turned and headed off towards the fortress. Once he was out of sight, Heather turned towards the entrence, grinning. Moveing quickly she found the rope that had been hiden under some debree. She steped back, holding the rope. With a quik tug, a small log was pulled free and an avalanch of stones crashed down, blocking the entrence. Giggling, she ran around the ruins. In a few minutes all other exits from the ruins were simularly blocked. At the least it would give her a few hours before they found a way out. Plenty of time to do what needed to be done. Heather ran off towards the fortress, giggling. "We've been over the whole place, there's no way out at ground level." said FrogSlpash, wiping the dirt and dust from her face. "DA*N." cursed EveningStar. She turned to Twilight. "How's it going?" "It'll take at least two or three hours for the clones to get the doorway unblocked." sighed Twilight. Just then Kai10 came running up. "Kai10? What is it?" said ES. "I can't find Kai13, he's gone. We were searching the same part of the ruins. We split up to look in two rooms and he never came back. All i found was his torch." gasped out Kai10. "Wonderful, just wonderful." hissed ES in discust, "What next?" ***** ES stood at the edge of the forest. It had been almost a week sence they had dug their way out of the ruins. They had returned to the fortress only to find the gates closed and Fields of Heather standing on the battlements, grinning at them. ES could close her eyes and still see the demented look in Heather's eyes when she said, "We're sorry, Heather can't talk right now, you have to deal with us now." Then the ground had split open, vines boiling out. They had reatreated to the forest, Heather laughing maddly behind them. ES looked again at the fortress. It could hardly be recognized, covered with thick thorny vines. ES watches PerfectBlue approch from the south and turned towards him. "Anything?" she asked. "No, not a thing. You'd almost think no one was in there." He said. ES grumbled under her breath, "I shoundn't have let her go. I shoudn't have let her go in there." "ES, we need to know what is going on in there. She has the best chance of getting in and out." said Blue. "I know," sighed ES, "I just hope Plump Mouse is ok." ***** Plump Mouse ran for her life. She had gotten inside unnoticed. She had spent almost two hours sniffing around. But getting out wasn't as easy. She dodged another vine, grabbing at her. Her heart was racing, her lungs burned. The vines were getting closer each time. She ran towards the forest, hoping to lose them. Out of no where, Blue apeared, slashing threw the vine grabbing at her tail. The vines stopped then retreated. Plump Mouse colapsed on the ground, her little sides heaving. Blue scooped her up and ran into the forest. EveningStar paced back and forth inside the emergancy bunker, listening to Plump Mouse. As they had feared, Heather had a Visarous plant, like the one VA had killed during her fight with Crabgrass. It was the reason the fortress and surounding area was covered with throny vines. Apearently, the plant took energy from any life form in contacted and the Blight had found a way to not only control the plant but to harvest the energy in took for itself. |
