Juni & juli 2004, thuis in Addis June & July 2004, at home in Addis

Zomermaanden in Nederland maar regentijd in Addis Ababa: warme kleren aan en regenjas bij de hand.  Toch valt er genoeg te spelen rond het huis en Saman ontdekt de genoegens van het televisie kijken. Summer in Europe but rainy season in Addis Ababa: warm clothes and rain coat within reach.  Still there is plenty of playing to be done around the house and Saman discovers the pleasures of watching television.

Saman is 1 jaar/year + 11 m

Ondanks de regen meent Saman dat de tuin water nodig heeft.  Geen probleem dat de slang die Tesfaye de tuinman hem gaf, niet aangesloten is.  Wij allemaal in een deuk en Saman heel serieus. Despite the rain, Saman thinks that the garden needs watering.  No problem that the hose handed by our gardener Tesfaye is not connected.  Slapstick at your doorstep! 10/06/04

Wat een stoere jongen!  Je zou niet zeggen dat het onderwerp van zijn intense belangstelling zoiets onschuldigs is als de Teletubbies..... What a big boy!  Though the topic of his intense look is as innocent as the Teletubbies..... 17/06/04

Het plaatsje bij ons huis biedt plaats aan 3 autos en is dus ook groot genoeg om te voetballen met papa.  Saman speelt graag met minstens 2 ballen: 1 om vast te houden en 1 om te schoppen. Our court can hold 3 cars so is also large enough to play ball with daddy.  Saman loves to play with at least 2 balls: 1 to hold and 1 to kick. 18/07/04

Blijkbaar zijn de drankjes die Saman thuis krijgt, niet lekker genoeg - in ieder geval niet zo leuk als drinken uit de regenpijp!! Apparently the drinks at home don't taste that well - in any case not as much fun as drinking from the rainwater pipe!! 25/07/04
