from : DNA Interactive   A great site for teachers
Suggestions: Have scissors for everyone or have the pages pre-trimmed. We had no scissors and had a hard time trimming the pages. Offer a prize for the best DNA; we gave a package of Gushers as a prize and the winner was happy.

Difficulty: Half of the club could not do it first time through. We think it was fairly difficult. You might want to give it as homework.

Educational value: When we finally got it done all of us thought it was worthwhile. It gives a lot of information about the structure of DNA. Also if you tape them together they make a really long DNA strand which will look killer in your classroom.

Genetic Scientist Game
5 out of 5 stars
Suggestions: Use this game. We guarantee it.   Have your class make their own games and play it in class for 5 minutes. It will make your class the one they look forward to the whole day. All they have to do is take an 8 index cards and write the SAME name of a scientist on each one Then if you make a group of five students each student puts their cards into the deck. If you want we will come to you during lunch and show you.

Difficulty: Everyone was totally involved. It's a fun game. All you have to do is exchange cards and try to gather a full set of whatever scientist you are going for. Your whole class will love this game.

Educational value: If you want to introduce scientists names or any thing really in a fun way this game is the way to do it. Everyone loved this game. Mendel has never caused such excitement.

Overall rating : 5 out 5 stars ; Highly reccommended.
This game is based on the trading game Pit. Instead of crops we trade cards with information about nobel prize winners such as Mullis and other scientists like Mendel. The object of the game is to have all one scientist. You trade by saying one, two or three. After you trade you trade again. One card cannot combine with anyhand and keeps getting passed. First person to get all one scientist wins.
