Draft Review (Part 3) Here is my final installment of the 2004 Draft Review. This part will cover rounds 12 through round 16. This part will obviously be a little boring, mostly kickers and defenses but I'm sure that I can still come up with some comments..... 12.01 Team Juice David Terrell WR 12.02 Team Nookie Marcus Pollard TE 12.03 Little Bastards St. Louis D 12.04 FFB Superior Anquan Bolden WR 12.05 Fat British Erron Kinney TE 12.06 Team Goo Vinny Testeverde QB 12.07 Wong's LD's Kevin Faulk RB 12.08 Team Tang Adam Vinitieri K 12.09 Air JC Kyle Boller QB 12.10 Sadidas 21ers Eli Manning QB 12.11 Flying Hellfish Jay Fiedler QB 12.12 Little Red Horse Desmond Clark TE FF Superior thoughts: During this round, I knew that I was the last one to pick a receiver and Bolden was still on the board. Since I knew I could take him, I checked to see if there were any kickers or defenses that was worth my pick, and there really wasn't so I went with Bolden. If he comes back after his bye week like he's supposed to, HUGE value with this pick (That would be week 7 by the way). If it takes longer, I can always drop him for someone else. Best pick besides mine: I like that Kevin Faulk pick....that guy always seems to catch balls out of the backfield for New England and if something happens to Dillon, Faulk is the man. Worst pick of round: Even though all the remaining QB's picked in this round were third stringer for each team, I'm gonna have to give Eli Manning the big "BOO" here. Even though he might be starting mid-season, he's still a whiney little baby whose daddy got him what he wanted...... 13.01 Little Red Horse Jay Feely K 13.02 Flying Hellfish Matt Stover K 13.03 Sadidas 21ers Byron Chamberlain TE 13.04 Air JC Jerremy Stevens TE 13.05 Team Tang Billy Miller TE 13.06 Wong's LD's Kerry Collins QB 13.07 Team Goo Miami D 13.08 Fat British Ryan Longwell K 13.09 FFB Superior Jason Hansen K 13.10 Little Bastards Kurt Warner QB 13.11 Team Nookie Drew Brees QB 13.12 Team Juice Kyle Brady TE FF Superior thoughts: In this round I was targeting Miami D, I couldn't they were falling this far considering all the defenses taken already, but unfortunately they ended up being drafted two picks before me. So I thought I'd go with the next best thing, a kicker who A) is on an upcoming offense, B) who plays in a dome, and C) who will win some games. I found that guy in Jason Hanson. Best pick besides mine: I already mentioned the Miami D being a little surprising being taken a little later than I thought. Kurt Warner offers great value if he can pull his head out of his ass anytime soon. Jerremy Stevens is a great sleeper here. Worst pick of round: I can go with either Byron Chamberlain who is now cut from Denver, or Kyle Brady who is injured for a few weeks who never does anything with Jascksonville anyway. 14.01 Team Juice Drew Henson QB 14.02 Team Nookie Joe Nedney K 14.03 Little Bastards Jason Witten TE 14.04 FFB Superior Buffalo D 14.05 Fat British Minnesota D 14.06 Team Goo Martin Gramatica K 14.07 Wong's LD's Sebastain Janikowski K 14.08 Team Tang Jon Hall K 14.09 Air JC John Carney K 14.10 Sadidas 21ers Morten Andersen K 14.11 Flying Hellfish Eric Johnson TE 14.12 Little Red Horse Tennessee D FF Superior thoughts: Well there weren't too many defenses left on the board but I did have Buffalo rated in my top 10 so I went with the obvious choice in selecting them. They have great linebackers and Milloy should be back before the season starts and they'll be getting some sacks.....plus they play Miami twice!! Best Pick besides mine: The pick that stands out this round is Jason Witten. He's supposed to be a pretty good TE sleeper this year and should get plenty of looks as long as old man Testeverde can stay in the pocket and healthy. Joe Nedney being drafted this late also proves to me that people might still go off of last year's stats when Nedney was injured last season and wasn't able to put up much points. Worst pick of round: Drew Henson couldn't even manage to hold onto second string, and Morten Andersen got the boot from Kansas City this week. 15.01 Little Red Horse A.J. Feeley QB 15.02 Flying Hellfish Denver D 15.03 Sadidas 21ers Bily Cundiff K 15.04 Air JC Seattle D 15.05 Team Tang Atlanta D 15.06 Wong's LD's Pittsburgh D 15.07 Team Goo Neil Rackers K 15.08 Fat Britsh John Kasay K 15.09 FFB Superior Paul Edinger K 15.10 Little Bastards Aaron Elling K 15.11 Team Nookie Kansas City D 15.12 Team Juice Doug Brien K FF Superior thoughts: Nothing much to think about here....just pick a kicker or defense and get the hell outta the draft....which went way too late by the way..... Best Pick of round: Kasay dropped further than I thought he would. If Dante Hall can do what he did last year, KC special teams should pick up some points. Atlanta plays San Francisco twice so those should be big weeks for Tang. Worst pick of round: Aaron Elling has gotten the boot from the Vikes....was there any doubt he was going to be cut when he's missing extra points in the preseason?? 16.01 Team Juice Green Bay D 16.02 Team Nookie Olindo Mare K 16.03 Little Bastards New York Giants D 16.04 FFB Superior Indianapolis D 16.05 Fat British New Orleans D 16.06 Team Goo Arizona D 16.07 Wong's LD's Doug Jolley TE 16.08 Team Tang Washington D 16.09 Air JC Jacksonville D 16.10 Sadidas 21ers Houston D 16.11 Flying Hellfish Shayne Graham K 16.12 Little Red Horse Garrison Hearst RB FF Superior thoughts: Well with the last pick in the draft, I had one defense to fill. All I did was go through the list and figured out what defense played the weakest teams twice in their division. I found Indy, who gets to play the Texans and the Jags twice so that worked for me. Best Pick besides mine: Garrison Hearst may be the best last pick in the history of our league. Rookie Tatem Bell is hurt, and Qunetin Griffin has yet to prove anything. Since Mike Andersen is now out for the year, look for Hearst to put up some points in that Denver offense who could have Juice as a starting running back and would gain over 1000 yards. Worst pick of round: This round is just plain boring but you can tell that we have an Arizona homer in the house when his last two picks are Neil Rackers, and Arizona D. Now all Arizona needs is some of their injured starters back and they might actually make Dennis Green a happy man. That would just about do it for my 2004 Draft Review. Again, this year there were some surprises just like their is every year (Rudi Johnson at 1.05), and there were also some not so surprises (McAllister and James as the first two picks). There were also some big fantasy mistakes that I like to call QB Double Up's, Early Kickers, Early Defenses, and 2 Studs from the same team. Don't worry, I'll be keeping track of those situations to see how they end up. The start of the season is in four days and I can't wait!! |
