Welcome to Ferret Haven & RescueWhy we do what we doAdoptable ferretsOur residentsFond memoriesAll your ferret needsAdditional resources
Most of the ferrets on this page are unadoptable due to advanced age or health issues.  It is unfortunate that these furry guys are unwanted by most people and become abandoned or neglected.  Our current residents at the haven have come to us in many different ways, sometimes left behind in empty apartments, sometimes found on the side of the road, sometimes just dropped off in dumpsters.

The majority of the cost of the shelter is operated from our own pockets.  We have been fortunate to have a few donations come in when we really needed them and we thought that we would have to close down.  Someone up there is thinking about us, though, since it always seems to work out in the end.

If you would like to help us with our work, your donation would be greatly appreciated!

Sammie

Sammie has a "secret santa" who sends him warm blankies on Christmas, and he would like to tell her, "Thank you very much!"

(Waiting for the chicken.)

(Sammie finally got his chicken.)

Age:  9 years, the Eldest

Sex:  male

Coloring:  bald

This pot-bellied old timer is still pretty active for his age, but he doesn't care to play with other ferrets anymore.  Sammie only has a fuzzy gray tuft on his head.

(Freshly bathed, Sammie enjoys his blankie.)

Harry

Age:  8 years

Sex:  male

Coloring:  black sable

Harry is a long time resident with an inoperable tumor in his groin area.  Harry has a limited time left, but he still appears to enjoy his twilight years.  Harry loves to play, but he is gradually weakening.

Amber

(Pink's hiding in the background.)

Age:  about 7 years

Sex:  female

Coloring:  blaze

Amber was brought to us in a cardboard box, completely bald and adrenal.  Her owner had the audacity to ask to adopt a healthy ferret!

Amber has had her surgery, but right now she is on borrowed time.  We are thankful that Amber's remaining days will be passed as comfortably as possible.

Vinny

(Vinny shows up his backside.)

Age:  5 years

Sex:  male

Coloring:  chocolate

Vinny was found in St. Petersburg, Florida, flea-ridden and caked with mud.  He was emaciated and had lost one ear when he came to us.

He's made a great recovery, though, and this very long champion currently weighs in at 3 lbs.  He's very loving, very laid back, and loves to play in bathtubs.

Wizzie & Smokey

Wizzie Smokey

(Wizzie, on the left, hangs out with one of his friends, Montana, on the right.)

Age:  6 years

Sex:  male

Coloring:  light sable

Age:  6 years

Sex:  male

Coloring: black

These bonded males have been respected residents at our haven for some time now.  Wizzie arrived with a group of four ferrets, and Smokey has become his current cage mate and companion.  Both boys are very sweet and laid back, and Wizzie in particular loves to lay in people's arms.  Unfortunately, Wizzie is showing the first signs of adrenal.

Missy

(Sunflower in the background can be found on our adoptables page.)

Age:  5 years

Sex:  female

Coloring:   sable

When Missy arrived, she was completely bald like Amber.  We believed at first that she was adrenal, but veterinary investigation showed that she had had a bad surgery to fix her.

Missy has recovered as well as she can, and is now sporting a fresh coat of hair and a healthy ferrety attitude.

Harmony

(from Harmony's first modeling job)

Age:  5 years

Sex:  female

Coloring:  blaze

Harmony has had an extremely rough life, having been caged and nearly starved to death in a cage with another ferret.  Her traumatic experiences have unfortunately affected her disposition.  Harmony needs to be isolated from other ferrets, as she does not tolerate them and tends to be violent.

We hope that one day she comes to terms with her past and achieves some measure of harmony, as her namesake implies.

Panda & Abby

Panda Abby
Age:  5 years

Sex:  male

Coloring:  dark sable

Age:  4 to 5 years

Sex:  female

Coloring: light sable

Panda and Abby are among the sweetest bonded pair that have entered our ferret haven.  They both have sweet dispositions and are our "show" ferrets for guests.

Panda and Abby came to us after their previous owner, a little girl, had to go off to school and asked us to keep them here permanently since she could no longer look after them.  They would like to wish her the best of luck in her studies far away.

Panda is currently preparing for adrenal surgery.

Pepee

(Pepee's styling on the comfy couch.)

Florida is for lovers...

(Pepee with a girl in his crib.)

Age:  going on 4 years

Sex:  male

Coloring:  sable

Pepee has become a permanent resident at our haven after he was abandoned here by his owner, who never returned to pick him up from babysitting.

Peppee very quickly became attached to me, and his sweet disposition has made him a joy in this ferrety household.

(Pepee with his favorite toys.)

Toby & Mojo

Toby Mojo

(Toby looking for his contact lens.)

(Toby about to take a flying leap
off the couch.)

Age:  4 years

Sex:  male

Coloring:  cinnamon

Age:  4  years

Sex:  male

Coloring: sterling silver

Toby and Mojo came in with 4 other ferrets, and they are the last of their group.  They have been here so long that adopting them out after so long would be hard on them.

Toby's a sweetheart and he loves to climb, even your leg.  He likes his belly scratched, and will come up to you and roll over for this special treat.
