The forest is essential because it has multiple functions:

- It plays a vital role by regenerating the grounds
thanks to its system of drainage. Thus, it favours the
biodiversity for the balance of the ecosystem and it
controls the phenomenon of greenhouse effect.

- It plays a production role by the exploitation of
firewood, the softwood lumber and the wood products.

Each year, thousands of firemen fight in various areas of the world
in order to safeguard what we are more valuable:
the Nature and the Human Lives.
A multitude of means, as well technical as financial, are brought into play so as
to fight against the fires and, for all that,
the burned surfaces are more and more importante and growing.

- It is a privilegied place for the activities and the appeasement moments.

- It is a patrimony which is administered at long term so that it is perpetuated in the time
for the welfare of each one.

The Forest Fires in the World

Since the last decade, the forest fires progressed in burned surfaces, and not in number.

The scope of the disaster is taking a considerable importance.

Since 1999, the forest fires increase by 10% per year, on account of the climatic changes.

The principal reasons are: the urbanization and the lack of maintenance of the forest.

We can also notice that the houses are more and more hit.
A kind of infatuation towards a return to the nature has incited to the building distinctly increasing in a wood-land, which favoured a permanent danger of onset of fires.

Formerly, the fight was involved in the protection of the forest.
These days, the priority goes to the persons and the goods.
