Marie and Peirre were able to get several tons of pitchblende from the Austrain Academy of Sciences along with a large shed ot do their lab work. The work was very laorous and difficult. Radioactive had now become a prodominant word and the potential uses fo radium were being uncovered. As the use of radium in medicine became known, the USA began to buld factories to produce mass quantities of radium. Marie and Pierre were questioned about geting a patent for their work, buy they both strongly opposed the idea.
