While a student at Zion Bible College he served as the pastor of Poovathoor Church of God. From 1963 to 1971 he pastored the church in Bombay V.T, India. It was in 1967 Rev. Mathai P. Mathai became an ordained minister in the Church of God. He served as the council member and governing body member of Church of God, in India. From 1971 to 1973 he ministered the church of God at Chembur, Bombay. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| In August 1973 Rev. Mathai P. Mathai came to the United States as an immigrant. He founded and served as the pastor of Brooklyn Church of God in New York, until he was called by the Master. During his life in the U.S.A., Rev. Mathai P. Mathai helped to find and establish many other churches. He served as the District Overseer (Malayalee Churches) of the Church of God in New York. AIso, he served as the President of the North Eastern Region, Church of God fellowship. Along with that he served as the Local Cordinator of the Pentecostal Conference of North American Keralites in Syracuse, New York from September 1992 to January 1993. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| With no intentions that the Master would call him so suddenly, Rev. Mathai P. Mathai reached India on February 2, 1993 along with his wife. His main ambition was to preach the Word of God in different parts of India. On February 3, 1993 after visiting his wife's home at Vennikulam, Kerala, he planned to attend the General Convention at Thiruvalla, Kerala. But in the evening he felt an uneasiness in his body. While praising and speaking in tongues he entered into his eternal rest. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Rev. Mathai P. Mathai was the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. P.M.Mathai. He was born on May 15,1924 at Maramon, Kerala, India. After completing graduation from college, he started his career as a school teacher. Rev. Mathai P. Mathai served in the Indian Army from 1941 to 1952. On May 16, 1946 he was married to Annamma of Peniyath, Vennikulam, Kerala, India. After he returned from the army, he served as a teacher in civil engineering in different parts of Kerala. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| In 1959, Rev. Mathai P. Mathai was saved and baptized in the Holy Spirit. In January l960, he took water baptism under the hands of Rev. William Pospisil. After baptism the Lord gave him a wonderful desire and opportunity to study the Word of God at Mt. Zion Bible College in Mulakuzha, Kerala. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
