Date biscuits

Ingredients

Pastry dough: -

Flour- 3 cups
Baking powder- 1tsp
Salt- a pinch
Sugar- 1cup
Butter-1 cup
Rose water- 3 tbsp
Ice cold water- as required

Filling: -

Dried pressed dates- 2 cups
Star anise powder- 2 tbsp
Milk- � cup
Sesame seeds- � cup

Method

Pastry dough: -

1.Mix together the dry ingredients, flour, baking powder, salt & sugar. Add the butter pieces &  rub into a fine bread crumb state. Now add the wet ingredients rosewater & cold water. Work into smooth dough with your hands making sure all the ingredients are well mixed.

Filling: -
Cook the pressed dates with little butter till smooth. Add in star anise powder & mix well.

Biscuit: -
1. Take a small piece of dough and press or roll out big enough to wrap a spoon full of filling. Put the filling on the dough and make a small parcel.
2. Roll each little parcel in sesame seeds then brush with milk. Put the biscuits on a greased baking tray, leaving space between them. Bake in a medium oven 180 C until pastry is cooked and golden.
