Medicinal Plants
-- There are many medicinal plants on Pern, below is a short list of some of them and what they are used for.
*Adonis - Used for heart palpitations.
*Alfalfa - Used as a tea for the stomach, diuretic.
*Aloe - Used on burns.
*Ash tree - Bark is used as a diuretic.
*Asparagus - Used to stave off drunkedness. Part of the 'killer cure' for hangovers.
*Barley - Used as a tea to combat symptoms of cystis.
*Basil - Used as an antispasmodic.
*Borage - Used as a cooking herb and for coughs.
*Box - Used as a diaphoretic.
*Comfrey - Used for burns and coughs.
*Cucumber - Used for burns.
*FeatherFern - Used to relieve fever.
*Fellis Tree - Used as a narcotic painkill that can be addictive.
*Garlic - Used for high blood pressure, a cold remedy and as a pallative.
*Glovecap - Used as a anodyne.
*Grass - The heart of the plant can be dried and ground into a power that is good for fever, esp Firehead.
*Hissop - Used for coughs. It's said that a winecupfull a day keeps off respitory problems, such as croup.
*Hops - Used as a anaodyne.
*Hex - Used to treat pneumonia.
*Lovage - Used for coughs.
*Needlethorn - Used as syringe for injections and to draw blood.
*Nettleweed - Used as a tonic.
*Numbweed - Used to numb pain. To prepare the salve, it requires 3 days of stewing, then 1 day to strain it, and the juice skimmed to the right consistency for the salve.
*Pink Root - Used for bellyache.
*Red willow Salic - Used as an analgesic.
*Redwort - Used as a scrubbing/cleansing agent (disinfectant?) and also for infection.
*Tansy - Used as a tonic, relieves heart palpitations.
*Tarragon - Used as a medicinal herb.
*Thymus - Used for coughs on runners as well as Humans.
*Tussilago - Used for coughs.
*Vines - When it's leaves are bruised, it releases a sap that will neutralize insect stings.
*White bulb - Used as a febrifuge.
*White thorn - Used as an anodyne and to relieve heart palpitations.
*Willow - Used as a tea to keep arthritis under control. Used with sage and wintergreen as a tea for headaches. Willowsalic is used for headache in a crystal-likeform.
*Wintergreen - Used in combination with sage and willow as a headache tea.
*Witch hazel - Used on burns.
*Yarrow - Used for acne.
