I'm a university student and I'm in my toughest courseload ever at the University of Florida to attempt to graduate in Decemmber, so I've not had time to work with this page this Summer of 2000 or Fall of 2000. | Our respective Covenanter families came to America from Northern Ireland before the Revolutionary War and settled mostly in Chester County, South Carolina. From Chester, SC - mostly during the first 20 years of the 1800s - the families moved to the frontier of America, in Lincoln County, Tennessee, and Gibson County, Indiana to escape the encroaching civilization and the slavery it brought with it. Soon afterwards, many of these families relocated to the prairies of Illinois in Randolph County, Jefferson County and Marion County. There, they raised their families and many generations were born in Illinois. This website was designed to become a meeting place for descendents of the Covenanter Presbyterian religion. These people were also known as Dissenters, Catholic Presbyterians and other names. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| DISCLAIMER: Please do not take what is within this website as the absolute "gospel" lineage. Most of it is, but as you go farther back in time (1700s), some of the lineage is not proven. The idea of this page is to create a meeting place for the thousands of Covenanter descendents out there. I'm hoping that people will see this page and want to contribute to it and we can straighten out the common mistakes within our families. I will also put census data on this site, which is not proven either, but it will provide a starting point. I will also put marriage records from online sources, and cemetery listings too. along with land sale records from Illinois and Indiana. There will be other things too.
