WA - SEATTLE - A former children's counselor pleads guilty to child sex abuse in Seattle. Kenneth Bell, who worked at the Children's Home Society of Washington, admitted to a pair of rapes in the late 1990's. “All of this was part of a plea agreement reached Friday, and because of it Bell will most likely avoid long jail time, and instead will face heavy counseling and treatment.”

CT - CT DCF social services supervisor, Valerie M. Miles, arrested for lying, fabricating evidence and witness tampering. Police state Valerie M. Miles falsely claimed police found drugs in a home and which caused the children to be removed from that home by DCF. Police state Valerie M. Miles pressured a neighbor to lie and make a statement supporting Miles’ false allegation of drugs being found in the home. Miles was fired from her job. Miles received a special form of probation that allowed her to avoid prosecution on the criminal charges. Under this form of probation, she was not found innocent or guilty; her prosecution was suspended pending completion of her probation. Valerie M. Miles is now back on the job, doing “research”. "It's appalling that a government officer who has tampered with and fabricated evidence against an American citizen should be tolerated," said Thomas M. Dutkiewicz, president of Connecticut DCF Watch, an organization of parents who monitor state and national child welfare services. "They didn't just break the law; they violated someone's civil rights.”

WV - WV DHHR CPS Lied in Baby Case. WV DHHR CPS workers failed to have the furnace repaired or the heat turned on for their mentally challenged client, Ms. Coffman and her two small children, and allowed Ms. Coffman to take newborn Jonathan Coffman home to an unheated house. Five day old Jonathan Coffman froze to death and CPS workers lied to police about it. (Note: WV DHHR CPS paid out $1.5 Million to settle out of court the Coffman case and another case where a small child reported to CPS that he was being sexually molested and CPS failed to take action to protect the child. WV DHHR CPS refuses to release any information to the public regarding the identity of the CPS workers involved in these cases or what, if any, disciplinary actions were taken against the CPS workers involved.)

FL – Ex-DCF worker lied skillfully - Angela Edgerton, a former child protective investigator, went into great detail in the reports in question.

“The devil was in the details in the case of a Stuart social worker fired by the Department of Children and Families and arrested this week for allegedly filing false investigative reports.

Child protective investigator Angela Christine Edgerton, 30, got away with falsifications in at least 13 cases because of the elaborate detail she included in the reports she filed while investigating child abuse allegations, Stuart police said Tuesday.”

Social worker, Margaret Pohe Rose, arrested after party with teens. Rose faces charges of risk of injury to a minor, possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia and violation of a town ordinance that prohibits adults from allowing underage drinking in their homes.
