Mary Alexander SHERRET born 1868. Mary followed the same path many of her siblings did. I was able to trace her through 1881, 1891 and 1901 censuses, to the death of her father, John Sr. in 1921. Mary, and sister Margaret, inherited not only his estate, but also that of their brother Charles, who died shortly before their father. Mary did not marry, and seems to have become brother James Smith's housekeeper on the family farm until her death in 1942. She is also remembred on the family memorial stone at Lunan.
John Sherret, son of Charles Sherret and Helen YOUNG, married Elizabeth TODD, daughter of Charles TODD and Charlotte ALEXANDER, in 1858 in Scotland. John and Elizabeth had a fairly large family: -John born 1858 (traced) -David born 1860 (traced) -Jane born 1862 (traced) **additional information available!** UPDATE! -Charles born 1864 (traced) -James Smith born 1866 (traced) -Mary Alexander born 1868 (traced) -Ann born 1869 (traced) -Elizabeth born 1871 -Alexander born 1873 -Andrew born 1875 (traced) * my g-grandfather -Margaret Charlotte born 1877 (traced) Elizabeth Todd died in 1909, and John Sr. died in 1921. They are both remembered on the family memorial stone at Lunan Kirkyard in Scotland. (Visited June 2005)

John SHERRET born 1858. John has been one of the most difficult children to track down. I found him in the 1881 census, and he moved to Aberlemno, where he farmed until his death in 1938. He is remembered on the family memorial stone at Lunan.
David SHERRET born 1860. David has been one of the easiest to trace. I followed him from his birth to the 1881 census, to witnessing his sister Jane's marriage in 1888, to his marriage in 1890 to Margaret Paton LAWSON, to his family's visit to England during 1891, and their return to Scotland in time for the 1901 census. He and Margaret had several children: -Alice, born approx 1888, through a previous relationship Margaret had before marrying David. Alice married in 1914, to W. M. Bisset. -Catherine Jane Lawson, born approx. 1891, in England, and died in 1904, single and presumably without children. -David John, born 1893 and died in 1912, single and presumably without children. -William Clark, born 1896 and died in 1942, single and presumably without children. David Sr. died in 1934, and Margaret in 1953.
Jane SHERRET born 1862. Jane has been fascinating to follow through her life, from her birth, through the 1881 census, to the birth of her son in 1882, to her marriage in 1888 to Alexander SMITH, the birth of their daughter in 1891, through the 1891 and 1901 census to her death in 1926. (Alexander SMITH also died in 1926.) Jane had two children: -David, born 1882, through a relationship with John BUNCH. David died in 1950, single and presumably without children. He is buried in Lunan Kirkyard. -Elizabeth Taylor Sherret, born 1891, with her husband Alexander SMITH. Elizabeth married Thomas HUTCHISON in 1919. Elizabeth (Lizzie) and Thomas had a set of twin boys: Tom (deceased) and (name withheld- living).** UPDATE** I have recently made contact with Elizbeth's granddaughter!** Click here for information on Alexander Smith's family.
Charles SHERRET born 1864. Charles was also an interesting story to research- from his birth, and tracking him in the 1881 and 1891 census, to witnessing his brother David's marriage in 1890, to finding him having landed at Ellis Island port at New York in 1893. He returned to Scotland in 1895 to be witness to his sister Ann's marriage, and died, single and without children, near Coalhurst, Alberta, Canada in 1921.He left behind a will and property, which his brother Andrew was the executor for. Shortly after Charles' death, his father, John, died in Scotland. Charles is remembered on the family memorial stone in Lunan, although he died at Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada.
James Smith SHERRET born 1866. James Smith was one of my favourites. I tracked him through the 1881, 1891 and 1901 censuses. He took over running the farm after his parents retired, and was the informant when his mother, Elizabeth passed away in 1909, his father John in 1921, his sister Margaret in 1927, his his brother John in 1938, and his sister Mary in 1942. James himself died a bachelor, and presumably without children, in 1946. The informant for his death was his sister Jane's son in law, Thomas Hutchison. James is remembered on the family memorial stone in Lunan.
