Trinidad as a young nation has only now realised how all of the institutions tie together to form a quality nation, So that without an education Trinidad is becoming a nation of fools but we still revel in that belief that not conforming is the 'Trini' way'.
Calypso is not Trinidad's National culture for it does not represent Trinidad as a whole . whosoever wants it to be as popular as Reggae must realise that it will always fall to the wayside because of the lack of professionalism, and a bias that has been propagated by the media houses in the developed countries that all the music from the Caribbean is Reggae, we Trini's so worship and are 'Trying to crack that market' that we don't realise that the only people who are interested in Calypso are the Trini expatriates in these countries.People prefer Soca and the addition of Chutney music(could still be a trend) as you know what the U.S.A. does we copy.
Coming to Trinidad are Sex tourists,yes Sex Tourists for Carnival! not all are the family oriented ones everyone thinks of (and you wonder why Trinidad is in the grip of a AIDS Epidemic?) . Does any one Remember Simona Flocker? (Somea Fuckher) who they wanted to deport from Tobago..
We then have the current problem of Kidnapping of Indo-Trini's business people by Afro Trini's with the sprinkling of Assyian-Trini's and Anglo-Trini's being thrown in the spotlight (that's if they even know they are targets).
This Kidnapping problem clearly indicates that there is a unemployment problem and a degradation of values, and that if people cannot fill the job vacancies advertised in the newspapers and go out commit crime it leads back to the issue of a lack of education.
CEPEP is a temporary solution that only caters for the party loyalists of the PNM,(the majority of whom are black).
All The Indian-Trinidadians are now stigmatised as UNC supporters, because of the opposition. We now are all bearing the brunt of Racially polarised politics that sees one race (the blacks) getting preference over another (the Indians), the Whites,chinese,Syrians seem to all remain neutral.
We must educate our children and ourselves in Trinidad that:
That reaching late for school or work does harm to society ,
that calling each other Honky or Nigger or Coolie behind each other's back or in front their face encourages disharmony, antagonism and Hatred.
That one should be responsible for ones actions and should be held accountable for ones deeds,
that emulating Ghetto culture will only lead to death and disease,
that a good education leads to a better life for you as a person.
