Flying with the Crows.

Crow Medicine

Medicine Wheel Vision Quest

Several times I woke up to the singing of the birds. By now, if you have gotten this far reading my story your probably asking your self what does this have to do with Crows? So here it goes.... waking up to the Caw Caw of the Crow this morning I asked myself "Great Spirit are you trying to teach and show me something about the Crow?" In my head I heard a soft voice say yes! Than I thought back to the lady that said "You have Crow Medicine." Mr. Crow came to the campsite twice this morning. After awaking I thanked Great Spirit for this beautiful morning, than walked over to the stream to brush my teeth, and take care of all the personal things we need to do everyday! LOL It was day 2 and just as I was about to go gather wood for the fire tonight 2 geese flew overhead. It was cold but, I didn't care for this is where I wanted to be; so free!!!!! Two geese and day two something to think about and ponder on for it's meaning! Walking up the road I began to ask Great Spirit where I could find some wood and as I looked up this hill to my left there was plenty of good dry pieces. After bringing 2 loads back to camp Sal showed up and helped me get the rest. I had a piece of rope that we tied around the bundles and dragged them which was so much easier than caring them in the arms. Sal is not much of a woodsman, more of a couch potatoe, lol but, he was so helpful and I was thankful that he was there! He didn't stay long just wanted to make sure I was alright, you know how protective men are and Great Spirit made them that way for a purpose which I am thankful for!!!!!The warmth of the sun was beaming through the fresh new green leaves so I decided to melt with mother nature and become one with my surrounding. Since I was quite alone and knew when someone was coming I was in my underwear for about an hr.. As the sky was becoming gray and the sun hid behind the now darkening clouds a chill hit the air and I fed the dying fire some wood. Evening was pressing in so, I dressed in my Native dress, saged myself, the circle, and the instruments. Mr. Crow showed up just as I was about to begin ceremony. Offering up prayers to Great Spirit and the 4 directions I began to dance, chant, play the flute and shake my rattle. The fire was blazing up into the night sky, flames leaping; mesmerizing my thoughts as I dance, thinking back through time to my ancestors of long ago. In my mind I envisioned them dancing, chanting, telling stories, and enjoying nature around them; as I was, before the white man came along to destroy our culture and way of life. Now don't get me wrong I am not against all whites just the ones that try to push off there way of life as being the only way to live! You know the kind I am talking about I am sure!!!!! In this day and age many of us have come back to the old ways even us half breeds (me included). Late into the night there were 7 people who showed up at the campsite so it was hard to tell so many that they couldn't come by the fire! It wasn't good as there was a domestic dispute between 2 of them. I was glad when they had to leave as they on the most part were drunk and it opened my eyes to what is destroying humanity. It was a learning experience that I would have preferred it not happen but, it did. After they left I prayed and went to bed. Day 2 was over and much to think about!!!!
