This page is dedicated to the various activities that I have, at one time or another, partaken in, usually with my friends, but have since then given up on and no longer do the things listed here.

This is my most memorable past interest. I used to play Warhammer 40,000, a tabletop miniatures game set in the year 40,000, where massive alien armies fight one another for control of galaxies. I used to play the army called the Tyranids, which was the second weakest army, although the coolest. They were stereotypical aliens, and I chose them because of that, but unfortunately I only succeeded in wasting a little more than a hundred dollars buying miniatures to put together and paint, while my friends all built armies that quickly and easily destroyed mine every time we played. Thus, that game quickly faded from my interest.

Achaea, Dreams of Divine Lands is a text-based RPG called an "MUD." You start out at level 1, and you work your way up in level, skills, and rankings in the world. The world is actually very realistic with a working economic and social system. For example, when one person decided to use a certain ability that allowed him to destroy all the plants in a room, destroying vast numbers of herbs that are used as cures and to make potions, the prices for herbs suddenly skyrocketed. This is because Achaea is virtually entirely controlled by the players. They govern themselves, set up clans, and sell items to one another. However, I soon learned that to get ahead in Achaea, one must devote a lot of money to buying "credits," which allowed him to increase his skills and buy special items. I was unwilling to buy a lot of credits, and I was therefore quickly left in the dust by my friends and everyone else I knew as they wasted their money on this pointless game. So that game also faded from my interests.

Ah, Dungeons and Dragons--the classic geek game. I love(d) this game. I spent hours studying rules and contemplating characters and strategies. I played it online, I researched it, I talked to other players online. I played it occasionally with my friends...and that is what killed the game. We only played it occasionally. So rarely did we get a chance to play that we never even managed to play more than two sessions of a single campaign. And those two sessions were separated by at least a month. If my friends were suddenly able to play on a regular basis, I would gladly take the game back up. But until then, this game is in the past for me.
