| The little one has finally gotten the hang of these NST's. The last couple of weeks she has done wonderfully and we have been seeingour regular doctor which I know also makes a difference. At this week's appointment, out doctor gets out the calendar and says... so How about August 5th for a birthday?!?! I was floored... Are we really getting that close?!?!?! I said SURE!!! She is reccommending we have an amnio in a few weeks, which I am not thrilled about. But she wants to make sure the baby's lungs are developed if we are going to be delivering her early. We are still not sure how we are having this little one yet. After all of these months of thinking and reading and thinking some more... I just don't know what to do!!! I have several reasons both for and against having a c-section and VBAC... I wish there was another option!!! Anyway, the doctor said to think about it some more and we will play it by ear. It is really starting to hit me how close we are!!!! I am noticing little things like... Jim and I were at the grocery store and the orange juice I bought doesn't expire til 8/19. I said to Jim. "Hey by the time this expires the baby will be here!!!!" Or I saw a preview for a movie that comes out in August... and there is a concert I want to go to but found out it is August 16th.... so that's not going to happen... All these little signs that August is just around the corner!!! We went to a Baby Care class which was pretty good. They went over diapering, bathing, umbilical cord care, circumcision for those having boys, a little bit on bottle feeding (since there is a whole class on breast feeding), etc The best and most informative part... was they did a slide show... showing all kinds of newborns and what they will look like and the "things" they may have after birth.... like cradle cap, little white bumps on the face, dry looking feet, molding, vernex (white coating on the skin), etc. After a while it was getting to me, just thinking about all of the things that could look wrong with the baby after it is born. And that led to me realizing again that our worrying isn't over once this pregnancy ends. But it was reassuring to know that they are all normal things that take care of themselves and gave us a realistic view of what to expect the baby to look like. We also ran to the store this week and bought travel size cosmetics, camera film, and things like that so I can get my bag packed this week for the hospital "just in case".... |
