Jason's Jubilance

Prolouge; Forboding Dream
My dreams…
A dark shadow surrounded Tarel, and as Iupvis ran towards her, she was enveloped.
Are they my weakness?
The shadow took form around Tarel, turning into many different forms.
Or are they my strength?
The shadow summoned more from around it, and together they attacked as one.
Do they have meanings?
Bravely, Iupvis fought back against the shadows, but soon he knew he was out numbered and out powered. But then a bright light came and took form of a dragon rider, and the light helped him fight off the darkness. And how can I tell what is real…and what is not? Chapter one: Rise of Dark Lord Carnage Iupvis yawned and sat up. Around him were the orange marble walls of the Arkalan castle. He scratched his head and watched as his best friend Jason practised sword fighting alone in the courtyard. Jason’s movements were like a poetic dance, they were swift, and precise, but flowed perfectly in such a way Iupvis almost fell asleep again. “Good morning Iupvis!” came Tarel’s voice as she sat next to him. He rubbed the sleep out of his eyes and looked at his wife. “Mornin’ Tarel. How’s Tyranni?” he asked. “She’s fine. Wondered where you were of course.” Tarel answered. “She always wonders that doesn’t she?” Iupvis said, going back to watching Jason. “She’s allowed to wonder where her own father is.” Tarel replied. “I know. But I can’t help it that I have to get out of the house early.” Iupvis replied. “I know. You’re the new guardian of the essences stones. Its your job to be up early in case some of them are stolen and you are needed to nullify the powers.” Tarel said calmly, her red eyes fixated on Iupvis. “I just sometimes wish something would actually happen.” Iupvis answered. “And they soon will young Iupvis.” Morvok said while suddenly appearing. “HOLY CRAP! WILL YOU NOT DO THAT!” Iupvis yelled at Morvok and within seconds a small wooden poll struck his head, and Jason was glaring at him. “Shut up ok? I have to practise sword techniques.” Jason yelled, and ignoring all Iupvis’ protests, returned to his practise. “Now, be prepared Iupvis. I have forewarned Jason, though he seemed to already know what I was talking about, but a new foe, one no one has ever encountered is about to arrive.” Morvok spoke. “Oh please! Whoever the chump is, he’ll be cut to ribbons by me and Jason, he won’t stand a chance.” Iupvis answered. Morvok simply stared emotionless. “Do not be so confident, arrogance will be a downfall.” he answered back, walking away. Moments passed as Iupvis sat there, his hand wrapped with Tarel’s, and after those few moments, the flapping of wings came echoing from a nearby open door. “Daddy!” came the voice of a young girl. “Over here Tyranni!” Iupvis called back. A moment later a half breed of Shoyru and zafara flapped out of the corridor and into the opening. Two star patterns were visible around her eyes, and for the most part, many of her features were those of a zafara, but many were not, such as the main tail. The tip had fluff coming out like that of a regular zafara, but the main tail was that of a shoyru. The feet were also those of a shoyru, as were the wings upon her back. Finally, poking from the back of her head was a shoyru horn. Following after the young girl was a small white dragon which she had created and affectionately called Draco. “You didn’t keep your promise again daddy.” she spoke. “I’m sorry Tyranni, but daddy can’t always be there when you first wake up, I have an important job to perform.” Iupvis said. “I understand.” Tyranni said, petting the little dragon that hung around her shoulders, letting its head drop low enough for her to pet it. “Now, what is so important that you want to keep seeing me about?” Iupvis asked. “I’ve been having bad dreams.” Tyranni said. Only Tarel noticed that Jason had heard Tyranni and had stopped practising. “Bad dreams aren’t anything to worry about.” Iupvis answered. “But they weren’t normal. Mommy got taken by a bad man in a horned hat, and he tried to kill the planet for his own gain.” Tyranni said. “CARNAGE!” Both Jason and Iupvis shouted. “I thought you killed him?” Tarel asked. “I wish. But he was quick enough to escape. But…last time I saw him…he never wore a horned hat, he was a shoyru…” Jason said. “Could it be possible that the title ‘Dark lord Carnage’ is just something handed from one being to another upon the death of one?” Iupvis asked. “It could be. I suppose we should take Tyranni’s dream seriously, and be prepared for him.” Jason said. Outside Arkalan, Shevron stood, anger boiling through his blood. He growled slightly. “I shall get my revenge on this kingdom today, and then, no one can stop my world domination plans!” Shevron said, growling all the time. Before he knew it however, a loud thwack echoed around the countryside, and he fell to the ground unconscious. Behind him stood a tall figure, with a horned hat. “No, BORERON, today, my plans for world destruction begin!” it said, and walked slowly towards Arkalan. Chapter two: Cursed stones “How can you be sure Carnage is coming?” Teresa asked. “I don’t. However it would be best that we are ready. If I know him, he will need two above all, to drain life from and carry out his plans. That is why your sister, Iupvis and Tyranni are heading to live on World’s End Island. By the time he could do anything here, or there, word can reach the other place and preparation for his arrival can be carried out.” Jason said, standing up. “You have a lot on your mind.” Teresa said. “Indeed. The world is changing Teresa, all we know to be logic, should never have occurred, yet it did, and the world plans to change it, the world plans to renew itself. At least, that is what I am getting.” Jason answered. “But you are the spirit of the world.” Teresa answered back. Jason’s eyes half glazed over. “But for how much longer?” he spoke, sending fear into Teresa. “What do you mean?” Teresa asked. “Winds of change, nothing remains the same forever…my time is almost over…” Jason said. Teresa ran to him and wrapped her arms around him. “The world is dying isn’t it?” she asked. “I feel weaker each day…” Jason answered, and Teresa held him tighter. “But you’ll still be here for me? Even if we have to die together?” Teresa asked, beginning to cry. “If we can be together after this life, it would be fortunate. Once the world goes, so does the spirit of Neopia.” Jason replied. Screams outside rung through the open windows, the sounds of the dying joined the screams. Seconds later Ayria, Kairu, Ayami, Maxwell and Morvok ran through the doors of the castle, fighting off strange creatures. “What’s going on?” Teresa yelled. “He calls them The Reanimated. His exact description was they were once living bodies, forced back to life to serve for him, and now they hunt and kill others to make all like them.” Maxwell answered, utterly destroying one. “Who said this?” Jason asked. “He called himself a Dark Lord. And that’s all we needed to know.” Maxwell replied, sheathing his sword and running off to find Tai. Ayria was crying heavily, Kairu held her tight, and Ayami knelt strangely on the floor. “it’s the end of the world.” she muttered. “What did you say?” Morvok asked. “You said the end of the world would be like this, the dead would come back, then eventually it would happen.” Ayami said. “Jason, she may be right, this could be the end of the world. For us it would be ok, our spirits can move to somewhere else, but for you…once this world is destroyed, that’s it, you die along with it.” Morvok spoke. “Then if I have to die, I will go out with a fight.” Jason spoke. * Iupvis and Tyranni rushed to Tarel, who stood in the courtyard, staring at the sky. “Tarel! We have to hurry! He’s here! If we don’t escape now, he’ll get both of the ones he plans to sacrifice.” Iupvis said. “It is too late.” Tarel said, lowering her head, and a tear dropped from her face and landed onto the floor. “No its not! If we hurry now, we can get away!” Iupvis replied. Tarel turned around. “No Iupvis…it is too late…the world has begun to die, his power has become stronger than Shevron’s, there is no one to save us.” Tarel said. “What are you talking about? There’s always Teresa, Maxwell, even Ayria and Ayami!” Iupvis replied. “They would fall. In our darkest hour, there is no hero who can save us now…evil has finally won…” Tarel said, still looking at the floor. “Tarel…” Iupvis said, walking forward. The second his foot touched the floor, Dark Lord Carnage appeared in front of him. “Stand away cattle. This thing is mine. Tainted a little from bearing a newborn, but still perfectly usable for sacrafice.” Carnage said. “I won’t let you kill her!” Iupvis yelled, drawing his sun blade sword. “Do you really think after all these years you could still defeat me child?” Carnage asked. “I want to know who you are before I kill you.” Iupvis said. Carnage laughed, and within a second, Iupvis lay unconscious upon the floor. Jason’s eyes opened wide. “Iupvis is in trouble.” He said. “We should go save him.” Teresa said. “No, its too late, what Carnage came here for he has taken. But he’s leaving The Reanimated to reap the whole of Arkalan. Morvok, go take care of them or hold them back, but pull out if you can’t hold off anymore.” Jason said. “And what do you plan to do?” Ayami asked. “The only thing I can.” Jason said, and held up a hand. Around it appeared the seven words that resided upon the golden bands he owned and stored elsewhere, and within seconds, all of the 1000 essences stones appeared upon the floor of the throne room. “The thousand essences stones…” Teresa said. “Kept safe and hidden by me all this time. Iupvis will now take control of them. I will go get him now.” Jason said walking off. “Right, Ayria, Ayami, whatever you do, don’t touch any of these stones ok? They are dangerous.” Teresa said. Chapter three: Vows of the essence Guardian Iupvis slowly stirred awake again, and lifted himself off the floor slowly. Carnage had gone, and had taken Tarel with him. He looked up into the sky and saw a blood red and black orb. “DADDY!” Tyranni yelled from some distance away. Iupvis looked up and saw her and her pet Draco being sucked into the orb. “Iupvis!” Jason called. Iupvis turned around. Jason went to say something else, but suddenly stared in shock at the orb high above. “It took Tyranni!” Iupvis yelled. “Its taking a lot more than just her!” Jason yelled, as suddenly he was pulled off the ground and dragged quickly into the orb, and from all around Arkalan, dead bodies were being pulled in, and thousands of Reanimated were coming out. A loud thud from behind Iupvis made him look away. He stared in shock as he saw the Giant Reanimated that stood behind him. “It can’t be.” Iupvis said, shocked, as he gazed upon a half decayed shoyru. “Mother? This is what Carnage did with your body?” Iupvis said. The decayed shoyru swiped its hand at him, which Iupvis dodged, and drew his sword. The Reanimated, which he later called ‘Deathscythe’, begun its assault by slamming its hand deep into the ground. Iupvis noticed his chance to strike it where it would hurt the creature the most, and ran up its arm. When close to its head, Iupvis struck it several times in a row. The Reanimated however wasn’t bothered, and simply shook him off. Deathscythe then begun to swipe along the whole area with its arms. Iupvis simply dodged the arms and attacked them as much as he could. It was after the fiftieth attack from Iupvis that it gave up and floated back into the orb. Iupvis watched, thinking he had won and saved Tarel, but little did he know it was the beginning. Within moments, the thousand essences stones were pulled through the castle and deep into the orb, which then left. “What the hell just happened?” Iupvis asked himself. Looking around one last time he ran in to the castle. In the throne room, all the guards and other staff had been gathered, and Teresa stood to speak. “It seems we now face a huge threat to this world,” she started, “however, I do not know how this has affected other parts of the world. But we all must be on guard. These creatures, the Reanimated as they have been identified, can appear without that orb being near. Any and all are to be eliminated at all costs. King Jason,” she paused, a sad look upon her face, “seems to have fallen victim to the Reanimated. We must continue this fight against them, its what he would have wanted.” she said, sitting on her throne again. With this, all the staff and guards walked off to continue what they were doing. “Queen Teresa…” Iupvis begun. “You don’t have to call me that Iupvis.” Teresa said. “Ok, Teresa, what is going on?” Iupvis asked. “Dark Lord Carnage, he’s started world domination plans, he is trying to turn everyone into the Reanimated, his minion army. And outside our very gates, a barrier has formed, no one can get past, and no one can get in. No one can tell what is going on, its like all parts of this world have been isolated.” Teresa answered. Iupvis put on a serious face and drawing his sword, kneeled before Teresa. “I will find out what is going on and slay Carnage for you Teresa.” he said. “You have something to do besides don’t you?” Teresa asked. “The orb took my daughter and my best friend, and Carnage himself kidnapped my wife. I have to save them.” Iupvis said. “You do realise, things could have gone horribly wrong Iupvis, if you do encounter Jason, his own memory of events could have been warped so much, he may blame you. And Tyranni may not even remember who her father is.” Teresa said. “I am willing to take the risks.” Iupvis said. “Very well, you may go. I wish you the best of luck!” Teresa said. With this, Iupvis ran out of the castle and outside of the castle gates, where he walked into a warp point. 1
