House of Splendid Isolation - completed 04-Jun-2005
Loved following this story, and seeing the relationship between McGreevy and Josie evolve. Took me a little longer to read than I would have liked, but that is my own fault I guess. I felt though that whenever I picked it up again, I had to reread the previous few paragraphs to grasp where the story was up to. But that says more about my own poor reading habits lately, than anything about the book. An enjoyable read for sure.
"My mother and me would do anything for McGreevy. She knew you too . . . She knew that your husband died up the mountains . . . Her own husband died after he came out of jail . . . Died of asthma. But the Guards still pester us . . . They come looking for things. They open drawers and look for letters and papers, send them skyways . . . They'll find nothing here, only Jimmy Dean."
