Christmas Decorations

December's Month of Softies theme was "Holiday Hangups". I was originally going to make Christmas stockings for P and I. I started mine and P's is still only a stocking shape drawn onto the fabric waiting to be cut out. Not wanting to miss out altogether I whipped these tree decorations up in about an hour. These were so easy to make and they used up bits and pieces of my stash that I thought would never get used.

For the star I cut out two identical star shapes from yellow felt, then went to town sewing on beads in yellow, green and red (but only on one side). I blanket stitched around the edges and stuffed each point as I went. The hanger is a bit short, but is braided embroidery thread in the colours of the three different beads.

I then thought I would try a candy cane but decided it would be flat rather than stuffed. Again I cut out two pieces of red felt and sewed stripes of white beads along one piece. I then blanket stitched around the edges again and added a red thread hanger.

This was such an easy project that I think when Christmas rolls round again I might make some more.
