Purple Scarf

I made this scarf for a family friend for Christmas. P and I don't know her very well (she is a friend of his aunt's) but she comes to our family Christmas every year so we like to get her a small gift. She has cerebral palsy, and all we really are told each year when we ask what to get her is "she likes purple". And so the purple scarf was born.

It knitted up very quickly - an hour or so a day for two days and it was done. My only problem was weaving in the ends. I am still a fledgling knitter and this is only the second project I have ever fully completed (most others I cast off once I get bored and try to turn them into something else). I used jumbo needles (10mm) which made it a very loose knit, and therefore, not real easy to weave the ends in "correctly". I just kind of went for it haphazardly and hoped for the best.

Ted loves his purple scarf

Ted kindly agreed to take a break from reading his favourite book to model it for me. I think now he would like to keep it, but unfortunately I had to take it off him and wrap it to put under the tree.

Next time I start knitting, I need to refer to the Knitty guide to weaving in ends.
