2007 marks the 32nd Anniversary of Collierville, Tennessee’s “Fair on the Square”. This annual fundraising event for charity was first held in 1976 in celebration of the nation’s Bicentennial. Coordinated and sponsored by the town’s Twentieth Century Club, the “Fair” quickly became a popular tradition, held the first weekend in May each year. This year the “Fair” will take place on May 5th and 6th, offering more than 180 booths filled with crafts, foods and games. The “Fair” will offer a wide variety of handcrafts, needle and woodcrafts, sculptures, baskets, pottery, ceramics and paintings, original jewelry, garden items, clothing and floral designs. All profits from the “Fair” are funneled back to the community and are used to support education, community life, environment and art projects. The “Fair" also provides fundraising opportunities for local youth, church and civic organizations. Entertainment is planned for the enjoyment of all ages. Check out the stage at the historic Depot Platform at the square’s south end. We have some really great entertainers, from Country to tap dancing, who will be performing. You won’t want to miss the great shows. The food will tempt even the most stalwart dieters as the aromas of foods such as B-B-Q, scones, Italian sausage, pizza and other delights, freshly prepared on-site, drift through the trees of Collierville’s Victorian-era square. Games, face painting, rock wall climbing, and a mechanical bull will delight the young and young at heart.
