A hood and coat of chain mail, early forms of metal armor worn by warriors of many nations. Chain mail designed to protect the legs came in the 14th century. Early armor also was made in the form of layers of metal plates. Also used for protection were gambesons, quilted or leather tunics stuffed with wool.

German Gothic cuirass and tassets of the 15th century. The cuirass protected the chest and back and was originally made of leather. The tassets, connected to the cuirass, covered the thighs.

An Italian suit of armor from the 15th century modeled by the Scribe (he's in there somewhere). Armed-at-all-points is the way to go, whether you're battling knights, barbarians or going Christmas shopping. Helmets evolved from simple headgear with nasals (a metal strip over the nose), to cumbersome protection for the entire head and face, to the better-fitting pieces with moveable visors.

A cape worn by the "nobility" circa 15th century.

Who is this in 14th century cape and hood? It's the Scribe's third wife lurking in the shadows of Windsor Castle, hoping to find him alone. A stark raving mad lunatic, the Scribe had the men come and take her away, but she has escaped on numerous occasions.

"A lunatic with a heart of stone! Now that's my kind of woman! Well, that's all for the fashion show. I hope you enjoyed it!"
