Al volunteers are very busy growing the class in different regions. We just had our (second) Asia Inaugural F16 event. Also the class rules have been refined here and there. most notiably in the mast-tip weight rule. However we have found a volunteer who wants to redesign and update our F16 website. So this website will stay a little quiet from now on because we are spending time on the new one !
December 2005
Over the last 9 months the work on the website has stagnated a bit. However, all in favour of developping a new website and growing the F16 class in USA and Europe. A few successes have been scored over the last months.

A
Blade F16 is leading the 2005 Harken distance race series in the USA after completing 5 of the 5 monthly events. The final event, the steeple chase on 10 and 11 dec 2005, will determine the distance race series champion. An I-20 is in second spot 3 points behind and an ARC-21 is third, down by 7 boats.

In the UK,
the Stealth F16's just had a combined event with the UK Hobie FX-one sailors. 12 boats were present with 7 F16's and 5 FX-ones. This event also crowned the FX-one UK champion (3rd in the combined event). Two Stealth F16's lead the scoreboard. Everybody was pretty vocal about repeating this intiative and trying to combine more events between our two classes.

In the USA the 2007 Alter Cup boat has been announced, it is the Blade F16. The Alter Cup is the US  championship of catamaran champions. Each year 20 teams from different catamaran classes are invited to determine the best catamaran sailor among them after a week of racing 10 builder supplied identical boats. Each year a new design is chosen.

In the USA a new brand name is entering the F16 class. At the Florida Tradewinds regatta
(jan 2006) the new G-cat F16 will be officially launched. This G-cat F16 is a full compliant Formula 16 race catamaran. The G-cat company owner is planning to use these boats in a week long distance race along the American Gulf coast shore line (Gulf of Mexico)

The Blade F16 design is certainly on the move as this bit of information is yet again about this design.
www.catamaranparts.nl will be the official European importer of Vectorworks marine Blade F16's. The is currently a groupdeal happening to ship across the first 5 boats. If interested, you have just about till 24th dec to become part of this group deal. Currently their is a demo boat in the Netherlands so potential customers can check out the quality of the product.

It was expressed to me by Sailcenter Holland that they are looking to complement their AHPC build Capricorn F18 with a
16 ft baby Capricorn. The company AHPC mentioned that this Capricorn will be compliant with Formula 16 class regulations. We have yet to see a prototype, but the intention is there.

So as you can see there is enough going on, sadly it is alot more than our small volunteer-based group of class officials can handle at the same time. So some work had to be skipped in favour of more important things. Work like webpage building. But rest assured we wil be back full force in 2006, with an new webpage layout; one that reflects our growth of the past years.

Chairman Wouter Hijink.
