This World Fair, held in Brussels from april 17 untill october 19 - 1958, was for Belgium and all of Europe one of the greatest and largest events in the second 50 years period of last century. War was over, places and cities were rebuild, people now had money to spend on other things than food. They could go on holiday or spend money on making pleasure and going out. That was the main reason why more than 42 million people visited the Fair during the 6 months the World Fair was opened. Those lovely lady's, called Fairhostesses, were there to guide you through the EXPO. The 288 lady's all dressed in a bleu skirt and red jacket wearing a triangeler small head were picked on there knowledge of more than one language and not, as some people think, on there good looks. They were also the ones you had to go to if for example you had lost your child. They also guided the VIP visitors but that was more for the show than it was necesarry. Sorry, those lady's can't guide you around now but you can follow me for a guided tour on worlds most astonishing Fair, the BRUSSELS EXPO 1958. |
