For any stomach problems, massage well diluted essential oil in slow, circular movements, clockwise around the abdomen. For cramps, wind or indigestion, apply a hot poultice steeped in the oil. Oil: Tea-tree Properties: Has a spicy, hot nutmeg -like, medicinal smell and is a powerful, non-irritating antiseptic that kills all bacteria. Actions: Used for cuts, burns, acne, stings, blisters, herpes and nappy rash. It is very effective in treating yeast and fungal infections. Home uses: Massage, baths, inhalation, poultice. Diluting one part essential oil to nine parts carrier oil, makes an instant home first -aid kit. Apply to cuts, burns, spots, stings and other irritations. Add it to the bath for viral or fungal infections. Warning: Perfectly safe for home use as long as it is well diluted before application. Oil: Thyme (White ) Properties: Has a tangy, herby smell and is a powerful antiseptic. It is a good stimulant, expectorant and insect repellent. Actions: Most useful for tension, fatigue, anxiety, headaches, skin irritations, coughs, colds and rheumatic aches and pains. Disliked by most flying insects. Home uses: Massage, baths, inhalation. Mixed with other anti-stress oils, it makes an invigorating bath. Good to massage in for aching muscles, headaches and rheumatic pain.. Inhaled with steam, it is excellent for breathing problems. Warning: White Thyme: Is perfectly safe for home use as long as it is well diluted before application and used in moderation. Do not use during pregnancy. Red thyme is toxic and should not be used at all. Oil: Valerian Properties: Has a warm, musky, woody smell and is hypnotic, calming, soothing and sedative. Actions: Excellent for treating sleeplessness, tension, nerves, melancholy, moodiness and irritability. Home uses: Massage, baths, inhalation. A few drops on a pillow will help to sedate. In a warm bath, it is calming and hypnotic. When used for a slow, soothing massage it overcomes insomnia, irritation and bad moods. Oil: Violet Properties: Has a delicate floral and potent green-leaf combination and is anti-inflammatory, astringent, antiseptic, circulation boosting, soothing, light and refreshing. Actions: Useful for any skin irritations or inflammation, particularly thread veins, open pores, acne, blackheads,eczema, spots and rashes. It also relieves headaches, dizziness, emotional turmoil, clears the head and improves concentration. Home uses: Massage, baths, inhalation. Use it for any facial massage, and once diluted, smooth it onto skin morning and night to rejuvenate any complexion. Will also relieve headaches and emotional upset. Oil: Yarrow Properties: Has a fresh mossy, camphor smell, and is anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, astringent, sedative and deeply relaxing. Actions: Useful for calming nerves, lowering blood pressure, treating insomnia and other stress-related problems. Also excellent for rashes, scars, acne,oiliness, and promoting healthy hair. Home uses: Massage, baths, inhalation. Mixed with other relaxing oils it makes a good massage to relieve sleeplessness. Inhaled from a tissue, it helps to reduce hypertension and calm nerves.
