| Oil: Eucalyptus Properties: Has a distinctive, stimulating smell that clears the head and is used in coughs and cold remedies. It is a powerful antiseptic that kills germs and has a cooling effect on the skin. Actions: Excellent decongestant for fever, flu, coughs, colds or sinus. It soothes muscular aches, sprains and pains and helps heal abrasions. Home uses: Massage, baths, inhalation, poultice. A few drops on a dish of hot water on a radiator will disinfect a room and make breathing easier at night, or use it for a chest massage, or on a hot chest poultice. Diluted, it may be massaged into aching muscles. Warning: Eucalyptus is perfectly safe for home use as long as it is diluted before application. Oil: Fennel Properties: Has a sweet anise-like, peppery smell and is a good digestive, diuretic, tonic and antiseptic. Action: It is excellent for tummy ache, menstrual cramps, fluid retention, PMT, and tiredness. Home use: Massage, baths, inhalation, poultice, compress. A few drops in a warm bath will have an energising effect. Or add some directly to a tissue and inhale it for an instant pick-me-up. Dilute and massage it in or apply with a warm compress for any digetive complaints or tummy problems. Warning: Sweet fennel is perfectly safe for home use if well diluted and used in moderation. It should not be used during pregnancy or by people with epilepsy. Oil: Frankincense Properties: Has a warm, rich smell with a tang of lemon and woody camphor. It is relaxing, uplifting, calming and mildly antiseptic. Action: Excellent for tiredness, negative moods, lack of confidence and emotional turmoil. It helps slow the breathing and has a calming effect. Home use: Massage, baths, inhalations. Add a few drops to a massage oil to warm, relax and restore an overstressed body. Massage on the scalp and temples to relieve tension headaches. Inhale it directly or add it to a relaxing bath to remove stress .
