| Oils: Angelica. Properties: The essential oil has an earthy, peppery, musky smell. It is a good expectorant, an excellent digestive, and helps with rheumatic conditions, indigestion, flatulence and colic. Actions: In aromatherapy, it is a germ-killer, excellent for coughs and colds, flu, muscular aches and rheumatism. It has a calming effect on the digestion and is warming and relaxing. Home use: Massage, baths, inhalation, compress. A few drops on a tissue clears a blocked nose and when inhaled with steam it releives the congestion of a chesty or smoker's cough. Five drops in the bath, or mixed with two tablespoons of carrier oil and massaged in, will speed the healing of cuts and bruises, relieve indigestion and soothe aching joints or muscles. WARNING: The root oil is photo-toxic, so avoid exposure to sunshine after use or it may cause skin irritations. Not to be used during pregnancy. |

Actions: In aromatherapy, it is effective for anxiety, depression, fatigue or other stress-related conditions. It is also good for cramps, muscular aches and poor circulation. Home uses: Massage, baths, inhalation, compress. A few drops on a tissue can clear your head, whether you're suffering from a cold or mental fatigue, and relieve headaches or any nausea, from travel to morning sickness. Four drops in a basin will refresh tired feet. Use sparingly for massage or in the bath. WARNING: Ambrette seed oil is perfectly safe for home use as long as it is well diluted before application. |
