| MY PERSONAL FIGHT WITH ENDOMETRIOSIS |
|
| I have two wonderful boys. My husband & I have been together for almost 15 years. We have two cats and two dogs. I have included a page with there pictures if you want to see them. I'm doing this web site to try and get information out about a little known desease that effects only women. It hits us during our reproductive years. This desease is called Endometriosis. It can cause infertility, major pain, fatigue, depression, & there is no cure. The drs. do have different things they can do that will help some women, but not all women. I've been very fortunate and have finally gotten my pains under control with the Endometriosis Diet. This diet is very strick and has to be followed completely in order to work. I have made a page with details of the diet in hopes that someone else might be helped. I hope you are able to find something on my site that is helpful to you. As I learn about more web sites I will be adding there links to my links page. |
| Now I will tell you about my experience so far with this awful desease. I had never even heard of Endometriosis until July 2000, when after extensive testing my gynecologist said that it was the only other thing that could be wrong with me. He explained that Endometriosis is when the blood from the uterus ends up outside the uterus on your other organs. It will mostly form on the ovaries, outside of the uterus, tubes & can also form on the bowels. In some rare cases it has been found in other areas of the body. I started my periods when I was 12 years old. They were always very painful. I would end up sick every month for one to two weeks. I would spend my time curled up in a ball with a hot water bottle and taking plenty of tylenol to take the edge off the pains. When I was 13 I got a dr. to put me on birthcontrol. This was helpful for awhile and gave me back my life for most of my teenage years. At 18 though the pains started back again. This time they weren't as bad as when my period started. I would have two or three severely painful days every three or four months. During one of my painful days I had an ultra sound done and the drs. got to see a cysts break on one of my ovaries. They were very excited about seeing this. No dr. had been able to capture a cyst rupturing before. After this though when I would have my pains I was told it was just another cyst breaking and nothing would be done to help me out. I even had drs. in the ER telling me it was normal for women to have pains during there periods. This is not true. If you have pains get your dr. to send you to a specialist and find out why you are having pains. Your periods shouldn't be painful. Just after I turned 20 I got pregnate for my first son. I didn't have any pains during my pregnacy and for about three years afterwards. When the pains came back they were worse then before. I was having them almost every month and they lingered for days at a time. I had four miscarriages before I got pregnate for my second son at age 26. I was painfree during my prenacy but the pains started up again within a few months of my son being born. I was having them up to a week before my period was due. |
