This is in line with Article 1 (2) of ECB Decision ECB/2001/7 on the denominations, specifications, reproduction, exchange and withdrawal of euro banknotes, as last amended by Decision ECB/2003/4, which states that "other elements of the [banknote] designs shall include...the signature of the President of the ECB". However, contrary to what you have learn in "How to read Euro notes{}", the copyright is still 2002 because this is only a slight change.

 

 

The ECB director's signature is printed on all Euro-notes, under ECB initials :

All notes printed since november the 1st, 2003 have Jean-Claude Trichet's signature.
