Countries code-letters and printer

The serial number of all €notes is always at the back, it is composed of 1 letter and 11 digits.
This letter before the serial number is different for each country which issue Euro banknotes.

Luxembourg did not issue any note yet and uses those provided by the Netherlands and Germany...
The printers have also a code-letter-prefix printed on their notes (the first letter)

Shortcode
= (1 letter, 3 digits, 1 letter, 1 digit). It is always located at the recto of the various cuts: either in a rectangle (5 and 50), or in a star (10,20 and 500) or integrated in the basic decoration near the central pattern (100 and 200).

The last two symbols of the shortcode correspond to the positioning of the note on the sheet during the impression (for example A1 is the top-left-hand note in the sheet).
