Laurie's Background/History

I was born and raised into a Jewish family. My father was an Orthodox Jew and my mother, a Reformed Jew. When my parents got married they decided to raise the children "Reformed". (We went to Hebrew school, celebrated the holidays and even went to Sabbath school...like Sunday School.)

Both of my parents are from New York and my Grandparents were of Russian/European decent. My grandfather fought in the Russian revolution but I don't know very much about my grandmother, she was Jewish, however.

I was born in Pasadena, California where I lived until I was about 3 or so and then we moved to San Diego, California.

I have 2 brothers and one sister who currently live in San Diego and Los Angeles.

When I would go to the "Temple" and hear the rabbi speak, I often found myself asking questions about life and death...and I knew that there had to be more to this "Jewish" stuff. One day the rabbi was telling the story about the "Tower of Babel" and God spoke to me, telling me that this is why the world speaks in other "tongues". I often thought how cool it would be to ask God for something, anything and that it would be given to me like "MAGIC" (I was only 11 or so and yet still full of all of these questions) not even knowing that God had my life already planned out and in the palm of his hand. He knows every hair on my head, all of my thoughts, all of my mistakes and all of my needs, and yet He still loved me. AWESOME!
