Give me Earth Facts about Architecture
Monday 7th of March In the following I'll place facts about anything to do with Archicture. Obviously the choice of these facts will be strongly coloured by my own taste! But you can always e-mail me if you have a fact that should be placed on this page!
Fact I: Wallhouse 2 You all have seen the picture at the mainpage, the Wallhouse from John Hejduk Marijke Martin, teaching at the RUG, gave us an excursion to this house. She's a member of a project, that tries to let someone actually live in the house. The aim is that a very promising student will occupy the place, a student that has something to do with Art or Architecture.View more beautiful pictures from the interior and exterior Fact II: Tikal The meaning of 'acropolis'. I bet you all heard once of the Acropolis in Greece. But this time I want to mention the four 'acropolises' in Tikal, a 'dead' city. I never have thought about the meaning of the word 'acropolis', I took it for granted, maybe it was the name of a God, or a mythical figure. Anyhow, today I were confronted with this word again when scrolling through this Site about the TikalPark The four 'acropolises' in Tikal' are a massive construction of ceremonial buildings on a large scale, which were very important sectors of the city, as they were the seat of the administrative and political power as well as the place reserved for the rulers’ burials. There are four acropolises in Tikal: The North Acropolis, The Central Acropolis, The South Acropolis and the East Acropolis. Please CLick here for More about these four Acropolises And as a to give you an impression of one 'acropolis', here a photograph ![]() Visit my page Games&More to read about the 'boardgame Tikal' |
