*~Games and More~*

This page will be about 'Games' in the most broad sense of the word. 'More' here is to stress this broad sense, for example entry 1 gives you several links to the actual subject of the game. I never did nor have seen anyone else doing this, I don't think you could see this page as a review-page. Anyhow I really hope you enjoy it here as much as I like to write here!!
Tikal
Sunday 6th of March
I have a boardgame and it's called Tikal. The reason I want to write about this game is because I played it yesterday with my friends. Tikal is the biggest and most important of all Mayan- cities. It lies deep in a dense jungle in the north of Guatamala, hidden under trees with heights that can grow up to 50 meters. It was built in 600 B.C. and the Mayans lived there till 900 A.C. Just a fraction of the 16km2 area has been dug up and researched. The aim of the boardgame is getting the most points by digging up temples and treasures. But there was one problem that came to us: the cards you have to lay down onto the board for broadening the area had to be laid down in a way it atleast had one connection with one of the other cards that already lay on the board. But we came to a dead-end...So we wondered if we did something wrong, or if it's a flaw of the game itself. That was the beginning of me searching the internet to "Tikal". It was a very nice experience, because Tikal really exists, so on 'google' I found a lot about this old city "Tikal". And I want to share with you a few worthy sites. On your right you can find the links to it.

Go to Facts of Architecture for the 'acropolises' of Tikal

Anyway, about the game: I found the answer of the problem: I thought you only were connected to a new card if the symbols of each were lay down with the sides connecting with eachother. But I read that it doesn't matter if the symbol is just on one of the cards, so that leaves more choices of lying down the cards..thank you Ronald Hoekstra! ^__^

Tenchu: Wrath of Heaven
Monday 7th of March
This PS2 game means a lot to me. I discovered it in the time I was actually new with playing games on the PS2 and even the computer. The last games I played on the computer were Pacman and Prince of Persia. The PS2 including the game weren't mine, and the person who owned it is very bossy. So for a long time I only watched and gave advises. Tenchu: WOH is the first game that person ever let play me, obviously I took this opportunity with both hands! Watching it only was already an addiction, but playing it completely drove me mad! I put a lot of effort in controlling the 'controllers', since some things are quite hard to handle, for example the camera's. Right now I don't play it that often, because most of the time I barely can take the tension. ^^;; I play better when someone else is in the room, I think I drown too much in the story and the beautiful settings. But I really want to finish it some day!!

The Story
Many years ago, Ayame and Rikimaru were rescued as orphans by Master Azuma Shiunsai, the leader of Lord Gohda's Azuma ninja. Master Shiunsai gave his apprentices the only upbringing he could offer: a life of lethal secrecy in a world of shadows; the life of a ninja. As they grew into young adults, Rikimaru and Ayame became essential members of the House of Gohda, even defending it from overthrow at the hands of a neighboring samurai lord. Each of the Azuma ninjas have served Lord Gohda with their lives and with their honour, delivering midnight messages to neighboring states and punishment in the shadows to those who turned against him. Now the period of bitterwars and great turmoil in 16th century Japan has seemingly come to an end. The Azuma ninja clan recently conducted the traditional ceremonies to end their year of mouring for the tragic death of Rikimaru. Meanwhile the land of Lord Gohda celebrated the passing of the fourth season of peace since the defeat of lord Meioh. Only the Azuma ninjas know the truth about Lord Meioh's dissapearance into a portal after he was defeated. It was a secret that even Lord Gohda did not know.

I don't want to explain everything about this game, because a lot of it can be found on the internet. On your right you will find several links to sites of the game. But there are certain aspects I want to mention, like the beautifull settings, based on 16th century Japan. Every mission has it's own setting, for example a bamboo-forest, a village, a lime-stone cavern, a cemetery and a castle. Furthermore I want to stress out the beautiful music, based on traditional Japanese music. It's almost like you're part of that period. In Europe about a month or so, a following game will come out, it's called "Fatal Shadows".

Ninjai: the little ninjai
Sunday 3rd of April
Ninjai: the little ninja is a website where you can find a flashmovie about the boy Ninjai. I discovered this site through another site, namely on the Pencak Silat.nl site. Anyway, I totally fell in love with the story. So here comes a small introduction to it. But please watch the flashmovie for yourself, it's fun, beautiful, and the only thing you have to do is watch and listen! So the story is about a little boy, he's travelling to find something. On his way he experiences dangereous moments, because it's the time where travelling on your own is the same as suicide. We see beautiful settings like a forest, a village, mountains, and even a swamp. As to re-inforce the sphere and mood you will hear beautiful music, made by the makers itself.=P
