The Fellowship of the Ring
The fellowship of the ring was formed at the Council of Elrond to help Frodo in the destruction of the ring. Each race of Middle-earth was represented in the fellowship. The fellowship consisted of Frodo Baggins, the ring bearer and a hobbit from the Shire, Gandalf the Grey; a wizard, Aragorn, a human and hier of Isildur who cut the ring from the hand of Sauron and King of Gondor, Legolas; an elven prince from Mirkwood, Gimli; a dwarf and son of Gloin, Borimir; also a human and son of the steward of Gondor, Samwise Gamgee; a hobbit from the Shire who helped Frodo, and lastly, Peregrin Took and Meridoc Brandybuck, hobbits from the Shire and Buckland, respectivley, who spied on Frodo to help him escape the Shire and follow him wherever he was going.
The fellowship of the ring was broken at Amon Hen when Uruk-Hai attacked the company. Frodo and Sam crossed the Anduin to enter Mordor and destroy the ring at Mount Doom, Borimir was killed trying to protect the hobbits from the Uruk-hai, Merry and Pippin were captured and carried off by Uruk-Hai, and Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli agreed to persue the Uruk-hai and rescue Merry and Pippin.
