MARY as Georgia. It list Jesse's age as 43, and Mary 42. The report spells the
name as HAYLE, which was one of the various spellings of the name. The Hale's
of Brewton Ala. are connected to Jesse through ASA HALE, the oldest son of
Jesse Hayle. There were no other Hayle, or Hales, listed as having a son by
that name. The report gives the age of Asa as 13 years old. The oldest child,
a daughter, was ELIZABETH, age 18. This making her birth year 1832. Jesse and
Mary were probably married in 1830 or 31. This derived from the fact that 99
percent of first born children were in the first or the second year of marrage
The report says that four of the children, Asa, Farrish, Mary, and Arthur had
attended school within the past year. There were none in the family who could
not read and write. Jesse's occupation was a farmer. He bought land in Monroe
Co. August 29, 1836. Value $800. The 1860 census list Jesse as living in Burnt
Corn.
