John Jay joined the Army during the Civil War. He caught Measels and returned
home to get well. While there Dicie Caldonia was born. John went back to camp
to early and died, and was buried there. While he was home Martha caught the
Measels from him, and coupled with phnumonia she died when Dicie was two weeks
old. Irene was two years old. Martha's sister, Elizabeth, took Dicie and Irene
and raised them. They were raised by the name of Hale.
