64 emulators
[1964]
Win9x
::
This N64 emulator is OPEN SOURCE! That means anyone
who wants can participate with something and add it
to the emulator. Both the source code and binary can
be obtained. It now plays over 100 commercial games.
[Corn]
Win9x
:: A very fast N64 emulator which can run many games,
such as Mario64, StarFox, and Bomberman 64. There is
save state support, and the speed is incredible - however,
it tends to be unstable for some users. Definitely one
of the top N64 emulators, especially if you don't have
a computer which meets the beefy requirements of Nemu64.
[Nemu64]
Win9x
/ NT
:: NEmu64 is currently the most compatible N64 emulator
ever (also my choice)! It uses DirectInput and Direct3D
(and DirectSound(?)), and so will run on most any 3D-card
enabled system. There is also a software mode, but it
is really slow. You'll need over 450mhz to get full
speed.
[Project64]
Win9x
:: One of the latest emulators around, which looks extremely
promising. It's got wonderful compatibility, as well
as speed to boot. As of version 1.5 it has been discontinued.
An unofficial version is being worked on and has many
small fixes and better compatibility.
[UltraHLE]
Windows
:: The legendary UltraHLE, the first N64 emulator to
run commercial games. It even has sound and joystick
support (the joystick support isn't too great, though).
The initial release could play 17 games, but, with the
help of updated ultra.ini files, it can now support
many more. It was discontinued 6 hours after it's initial
release, but it's now being worked on again. You'll
need at least a P2-233 system to use it. It runs on
Glide, so a 3dfx card or a Glide-wrapper is required.
