(I should say this is mainly for me. Partly to see if I can remember all this crap)
I was introduced to this randomly by a friend who had just created a nation. He pointed me to the site and since I had nothing better to do, I made a nation. (Thanks Jiachen!)
So I was spawned in The North Pacific on 4/6/03. (This is according to the NS records, as I have absolutely no idea when that really happened) I stayed in The North Pacific because I was completely unaware that anything else existed. This continued for many months, during which I created three other nations to experiment with. At first, I made one other and.... horror of horrors, I UN multied. Of course, I was completely unaware that what I was doing was wrong. :P Then I realized it was wrong and cancelled 1 nation's membership. I can only be thankful the mods didn't catch me for it. After a few months I wanted to create scenario nations, and so I created Berkeley and the US. I still really like doing the issues for those, and they're both in TNP making good scores in the rankings.
That was basically it for awhile. Oh, I asked to be put on the map. Basically a year after my creation. I really liked the idea, and at that point I was large enough to get a decently large spot. And so I ventured into the depths of the TNP forum to ask for a spot on the map. Around that time I also created the "evil Katrina" nation. Die peasant scum, die!
Time passed peacefully, and then.... the horror of UPS Rail/Great Bight. And the beginning of my descent into madness. ;) So my remembrance of this.
I have absolutely no idea what the date was, although I know it was in June sometime. UPS Rail wasn't in power for that long. But anyways, he came into power after Magicality, and was initially okay. Then I became aware that he had booted a large number of people that were all recognizable TNP people. So I, of course, had to do a little researching. I think I contacted Thel first and asked what was going on. Thel talked to me fairly openly about what was going on and what he knew. So basically I got a little pissed, and since I had nothing better to do (it was summer after all), I started tracking nations and occasionally debating on the HQ. I kept lists of the ban list throughout UPS Rail and GB. UPS Rail only lasted for a few days. But I completely missed the turnover to GB, as it was the 4th of July and friends were over. So I came back on Monday to find we had a new delegate. It seemed like we could all be happy now.
Then Great Bight posted something about setting up endorsement limits and ensuring the security of our region. He said they'd be in effect for a short while, which could have been okay. He even put Thel D'Ran in some position as a deputy. But then, after about a week, he ejected a large number of nations, larger than UPS Rail had. And the real fight started. :)
During that time, I became ever so slightly more involved. I tracked the nations on and off the ban list and argued on the HQ more. I also talked to Thel more, sometimes sending him my lists of nations. Towards the end I volunteered nations, but they never got used. And then Ballotonia (Free4All/Better Times) came in as delegate and GB was gone. I think a nice consequence of the GB affair was me figuring out the rules regarding invading/defending a bit more. There was so much controversy over GB and whether or not he was breaking the rules.
So then Ballo handed over control to Thel and all was well. LOL... nothing can ever be well in TNP. Something has to be fought over. Anyways, I was happy just talking to Thel and various other people occassionally. Then I think Thel was talking fairly seriously about Lemuria and I offered to read the Constitution. First mistake. ;) So basically I got sucked into Lem. I joined around mid-August, a little uncertain how much I wanted to take part in it. Then by mid-September I had completely joined. I wanted to be in Pandyan, and since Thel didn't want House Leader, I just kinda become it. :D
