A very scrappy and poor performance saw us take all 3 points against a poor wigan side who did better than us in the first half. The first half was awful.Probably the worst first half i have ever seen from arsenal.Wigans poor finishing meant that we went in at half time 0-0.The team just didnt turn up.I really think it is a matter of motivating the players against the lower teams.Granted the midfield were not our first choice but you would expect more quality than what they showed.Similar performances will certainly be punished. So a lucky 3 points and portsmouth is next. For all his talk Baptista had a poor game.He still overhits his passes and generally hasnt adjusted to the pace of the game.Maybe he needs more games as he certainly kept improving as the game went on but i am not sure arsene will give him too many starts. He has not even showed us the physical side of his game yet.I keep wondering which arsenal is going to turn up for the next match. It might be the highly motivated world beating arsenal team or it might be the team which turned up against wigan/fulham.In the end we had to bring on cesc to get all 3 points.I can only imagine what would happen if cesc got injured for a few games as he seems to be the only player who is inspired to put in performances day in and day out.Anyway on to portsmouth tomorrow where we come up against a defence led by none other than sol campbell. That should be interesting. Also the champions league draw takes place today and it should be fun.If not one of the smaller teams, we will probably end up drawing barcelona. Now that should be fun.Till later.

So tonight begins what could/should be a very impressive run of victories against sides who at least on paper are easy for us.At the same time it is against these sides that we have been struggling and if we have learned anything from the chelsea performance we should get back to winning ways.I hope wenger makes good use of baptista and walcott in these matches as these are the kind of games where these players can get matches under their belt and become good enough to face tougher opposition. That said Wigan away are never going to be easy, considering they have been on a good run lately. But then i expect us to run out comfortable winners.I also fancy newcastle to trouble the defending champions and perhaps even take a couple of points of them. They seriously lack width and mourinho is not going to do anything about it. Anyway on to team news.It looks like henry is out until after Christmas not because of his sciatic nerve but because of a hamstring injury.Gallas and Rosciky may play at the weekend and the only addition to the team against chelsea appears to be kolo toure.Henry's absence no longer seems as important as it would have say this time last season. We have learned to play without our captain and that is only a good thing.I hope he comes back at his devastating best. That will be something!!So on to victory tonight.Catch ya later.

A thrilling match against Chelsea saw us gain a point in what i am sure everyone agrees to be a fair result.Granted their was a foul in the buildup to their goal but when the goal came it was simply awesome. You could also say that we should have won the game with some luck finally going our way after so many dominating performances that havent culminated in a win for us.But then all in all a draw seems fair. And i also feel like Arsene does that the title race is not over for us.As long as we do not drop points which is the difficult thing to do,i am sure we still have a chance. However if we do continue dropping points both home and away as we have been doing, we will struggle to finish 4th this season as the competition for the 4th spot is very tough this time round. If this performance against chelsea galvanises us and makes us play with a great team spirit, there is no reason why we are out of the title race yet.I still feel that united will hit a patch of bad form, and chelsea just dont look as good as they have in the past few title winning seasons. So from here on anythings possibe. It would be really great if we end up pipping everyone for the title considering our current position wouldnt it?No team may have ever gone on to win the title from where we are at present but there is a first time for everything in football and maybe this is it.Till later people.

Well, today is the day our title hopes are determined.I disagree with all the other arsenal sites and blogs which say that we are already out of the title race.I agree that a loss or even a draw tonight will not be enough.A win however might just see us get the confidence and belief that could perhaps spark a wonderful unbeaten run for most of the season.Hmmm...maybe i am being overly optimistic here. But I feel if we can really overcome the odds tonight and mind you the odds against us are huge, what with our weakened defence and no Thierry Henry.Even with these *stars* you would find people reluctant to bet on us winning at the bridge. The game is not going to be pretty for us Arsenal fans. The midfield is going to be regularly pushed and pulled and whatever it takes to unsettle them early will be done by Mourinho's guys.If we have a bright start however and are able to withstand all the pressure on the ball, and perhaps but not necessarily get an early goal we have a chance. As we have so far seen this season, once we get into a rhythm it becomes very difficult for the opposition to break up our slick passing moves.Somehow i also fancy a lot of cards tonight. If there is going to be a red, hopefully a chelsea player gets one.It would be comic if Ashley Cole got sent off wouldnt it.I am banking for an Arsenal AWAY WIN with van persie or ade to score the winner, probably a scrappy one.COME ON GUNNERS.
