| 2nd April 2006 A big hello to all the gooners and football fans out there.Today is the first day of epl_arsenalforever where i will provide my views on everything football primarily focusing on the epl and Arsenal FC. Right then. Here we go.... Arsenal 5-0 Aston Villa Arsene Wengers side showed their class to demolish a struggling Aston Villa. Fresh out of the now famous victory against Juve Arsenal looked to continue in that vein . Fabregas unfortunately had to come off after just 16 minutes or so having some problem with his foot. Arsene Wenger said he has a 40-60 against him chance of playing on Wednesday in Turin . Eboue also got himself injured in the clash with a groin strain. I think Gilbert is back from injury and will probably take his place if he does not make the flight to Turin. Abedayor scored the first for Arsenal after henry had taken an audacious chip with Sorensen way off his line only for Aaron Hughes to head clear immediately headed back in off his head by Abedayor. The second came just 6 minutes later when Reyes picked out Henry with a wonderful ball and Henry just showed why he is the best striker in the world with a wonderful first touch and a magnificent chip over the stranded Sorensen. Aston Villa had their chances in the first half but a little bit of luck and good goalkeeping kept it clean.Immediately after the start of the second half Henry scored a magnificent goal after a wonderful layoff by Abedayor.Henry was soon substituted and Villa may have breathed a sigh of relief. But not for long. Van Persie once again showed that wonderful left foot of his to score from a tight angle into the empty net after turning Sorensen. The fifth came when a fine pass from abedayor picked out an unmarked diaby who finished with aplomb to complete a great day for him after he had bossed the mid field . It will be intereting to see how he pairs with Cesc in the middle. Arsenal look to have regained their confidence completely and should be able to finish off the tie against Juve on wed. Ofcourse I will be very surprised if Arsenal dominate the way they did in the first leg.It is likely to be a much more difficult tie and we will probably have to grind out a result. For one thing the dangerous Nedved is likely to back. That was one of the major reasons why Trezeguet looked so poor in Highbury. With no one able to provide him that final ball he was stuck. But then one would expect Wenger and his young team to pull through. The other ties are precariously poised. With Juninho back Milan will have to be at their best to prevent Lyon from scoring. Also Villareal do not look out of it especially considering how good Riquelme was against Inter. Despite the records Benfica can produce the biggest upset if they beat Barca who only managed to draw against a 10 man Madrid. The mid week clashes certainly promise to be really exciting. Be sure to sign my guest book.Comments will be greatly appreciated.Till next time adios. |
