My Hair

Yes, I love my hair. I freely admit it. In Early October, it was down to my waist. Mid-October, I cut off fourteen (14) inches!!! It was a pain to take care of, and I was starting to think that it wasn't worth it. Actually, come to think of it, if I hadn't been such a romantic I'd have cut it long ago.

Why was it down to my waist when it was such a pain? Like I said, romantic reasons, which are as follows:

When I was really little, my mom made me keep my hair in this horrible pageboy cut. It looked cute on me, and stuff, but everything looks cute on three-year-olds (the picture is proof). And, as she has said many times (see my guestbook for details), it was not her fault. A four-year-old does not care about practicality, as I did not. I wanted LONG hair. So I waited nine years and grew it out. By the time I was twelve, My hair was to my midback. I have a picture of that somewhere...I'll put it up here when I find it. Sadly, my love of long hair had worn off by then, and I begged my mom to let me cut it into a bob. She relented, and they cut off nearly a foot and a half. Needless to say, I've been repenting ever since. Here's how long my hair was April 2002:

I never actually did anything with my hair, most of the time. It just kind of sat there on my head, usually up in a bun, although there were a few times I did interesting things with braids and knots with butterfly clips, but that took far too much time. Incidentally, wet hair is the coldest thing in the world. Seriously. When you're going swimming, and you get out of the water and then towel off, and then cold hair hits you in the back...ick.

But anyway, by the time it got down to my waist (I have a picture of that too, but you'll have to wait a bit for me to put it up here), It was really starting to become unweildy. I was in the shower shampooing it and I thought, "no! I can't live like this any more!" So I got out of the shower, combed it out, put it into two seperate braides, and CHOPPED IT! Then I went to Fantastic Sams and got it styled and evened out. Here is the result:

Fourteen inches, and it still looks pretty long! I am very pleased with it, though. It's so much easier to take care of, and it's more flattering. The downside is I can't be Eowyn any more for halloween because I haven't got the hair. Alas. Small price to pay, however.

But, that's not all! Oh, no. My hair is growing out again and I've started to resort back to the bun thing. I'll probably keep growing it out until after I come back from Egypt. Then - I'm very excited about this - I'm going to cut it again! Very short - and I'm going to SPIKE it! I got the idea from Tonks, a character from "Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix," pictured on the right. (By they way, I should probably mention that This picture is copyrighted by Tealin Raintree, whose totally awesome site you can visit here.) Anyway, I'll keep it my natural hair color of course, but it will be a real change to have hair so very short. Tonks in the picture has a much longer face than mine, so I probably won't get exactly the same haircut, but I kind of like the idea of having spikes. It will be cool! It'll grow out to a more normal length soon enough after that, I just want the experience of having a truly weird haircut.

Actually, I should have said "Link" instead of "Links" because so far there's only one...so...umm...too bad.
